See I am willing to give Canelo the benefit of the doubt because dude hasn't shown himself to be a consummate ducker. You were talking down on Floyd because of the Manny situation just like I was. Now that Canelo is pulling something similar, I cant act different about it.
I never agree with a fighter avoiding another fighter...look how many back & forth's me and @ChocolateGiddyUp have had about Danny Garcia's potential opponents or me and @seemorecizzy about Floyd's potential opponents.
That would give me 0 credence to defend this (backing out of a mandatory challenger you said you would fight next at the full limit, to only ask for 2 or 3 more fights before facing him) and 0 credence going forward, because that would mean my stance changes depending on if I follow the fighter or not.
You were part of the #MatthysseMafia....what would your response had been in 2013 if Danny Garcia vacated his belt and said he needed 2 or 3 more fights before facing Lucas Matthysse? You would've killed him and rightfully so. The positioning shouldn't change just because it's Canelo pulling this move breh...a spade is a spade
This doesn't look good at all.
I think there will be a one fight gap between the Canelo/GGG fight where they both headline an HBO card against competent but not scary opponents to actually provide a build for their fight which I am fine with. I don't know when the sport got away from building match-ups like they used to do. Everyone wants to rush everything and then act all shocked when a fight with no true hype underperforms in PPV sales or ratings.
