Too much Golovkin talk around the ring recently:francis:

thats means GGG is a bonafide star breh...but that daily obsession about GGG and his desire to rule 160 by the anti GGG brigade is something else :russ:..its almost rivaling the floyd stanning lol

Browne-Campillo, Centeno-Maciec Set For PBC Card

Posted by: Random Hits on 8/21/2015

MASHANTUCKET, CT - Undefeated light heavyweight rising star "Sir" Marcus Browne (15-0, 11 KOs) will take on former world champion Gabriel Campillo (25-7-1, 12 KOs) while undefeated middleweight Hugo "The Boss" Centeno (22-0, 12 KOs) battles Poland's Lukas Maciec (22-2-1, 5 KOs) as part of the featured undercard bouts on the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on NBC event on Saturday, September 12 from Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT.

The September 12 card is headlined by undefeated middleweight star Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin (31-0-1, 22 KOs) taking on Michael Zerafa (17-1, 9 KOs) in a 12-round middleweight matchup, while super welterweight world champion Cornelius "K-9" Bundrage (34-5, 19 KOs) defends against undefeated rising star Jermall Charlo (21-0, 16 KOs) in the co-main event. Live coverage begins at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT on NBC.

The undercard, which is set to kick off at 1 p.m. ET, will feature two of the brightest young up-and-coming stars in all of boxing putting their undefeated records on the line as Browne and Centeno compete in their separate 10-round matchups.

A 2012 U.S. Olympian, Browne has been very impressive since making his pro debut in November 2011.The 24-year-old Staten Island-native is coming off his two most impressive victories to date this year. In May, Browne dominated Cornelius White (21-3) over 10 rounds at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Prior to that, in April, Browne scored an impressive sixth-round TKO over perennial contender Aaron Pryor Jr. Browne is looking to throw his name into the mix of the top fighters in the 175lb. division, and an impressive showing against the former world champion Campillo would do just that.

Campillo is 3-1 in his last four bouts, including a huge upset stoppage victory over previously undefeated Thomas Williams Jr. (17-0) in August of last year. The 36-year-old owns victories over Beibut Shumenov, Hugo Hernan Garay and Mirzet Bajrektarevic over a career that dates back to 2002. The fighter out of Madrid, Spain knows that if he is going to make another run at a light heavyweight title, he cannot afford another loss.

Oxnard, California's Centeno has long been one of boxing's top prospects with victories over Ayi Bruce, Keandre Leatherwood, Angel Osuna and Gerardo Ibarra. In his most recent fight, he faced his stiffest test to date against James De La Rosa and passed with flying colors, scoring a spectacular fifth-round knockout. Ready to make his move on the middleweight elite, Centeno will take on the 26-year-old Maciec out of Lubin, Poland. Maciec enters the bout on a five-fight win streak, including victories over Lanardo Tyner and previously unbeaten fighters Jussi Koivula and Sasu Karapetyan. Maciec is 15-1-1 in his last 17 bouts and is ready to show the world that he belongs at the top of the 160lb. division when he makes his U.S. debut.

The Browne or Centeno fight could end up as a swing bout for the NBC broadcast pending the outcome of the two scheduled televised bouts.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, are priced at $150, $85 and $45, not including applicable service charges and taxes, and are on sale now. Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com and www.foxwoods.com or by visiting the Foxwoods' Box Office. To charge by phone, call Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000.

Dan Rafael chat wrap 8/21:

- Stevenson criticizes Kovalev's opponents and his own opponents are not any better.
- Quigg and Donaire are still talking to make a fight.
- Rigo vs. Lomachenko doubtful for the immediate future.
- Surprised, but not shocked by Glowacki beating Huck. What he had seen of Glowacki beforehand was that he was strong and determined.
- Good chance Porter vs. Thurman happens later this year. Both sides are talking and have said they want the fight.
- GGG is deservedly the favorite, but with Lemieux's power and style he certainly has a chance to win.
- Huck vs. Glowacki is his favorite for FOTY, Matthysse-Provodnikov is right there too.
- The Huck vs. Glowacki fight could take all the awards: FOTY, round of the year, KO of the year, and upset of the year. Similar to JMM-Pacquiao 4.
- Don King may potentially block the Stiverne-Ortiz fight. King is refusing to sign the contract that has been agreed to by Stiverne. GB may have to look for a new opponent, not looking good.
- Undercard rumors for Canelo-Cotto: Miura-Vargas, and possibly a Jayson Velez fight.
- If he could choose the opponent for Mayweather's 50th fight, who would it be? GGG.
- Floyd is in his top 20 fighters of all time.
- Believes Mosley-Mayorga will happen, despite King's lawsuit. Thinks Mosley wins easily.
- Mosley says he needs to get 40k PPV buys to break even. Doubts he gets it.
- Wilder is being matched against soft competition because his team is worried about his chin. (Dropped in sparring and amateurs, wobbled in the pro's a few times, and skinny legs)
- Wilder could be back in the winter before the Povetkin mandatory comes up. If he does, expect another soft opponent.
- Wilder has fought awful competition, besides Stiverne.
- Rumblings are going around about Garcia-Guerrero. No desire to see the fight. Guerrero lost nearly every round vs. Thurman and deserved to lose vs. Martinez.
- Cotto vs. Trout rematch, who wins? Cotto.
- Has not heard how much press ESPN will give Canelo-Cotto, but imagines it will be huge.
- GGG's fight is selling well because it is the right opponent, right location, right price, right undercard, and right date. The fight will sell out.
- HBO will do some type of special programming prior to the PPV.
- GGG vs. Lemieux needs to sell about 150k buys to make money. Doing 500k PPV buys is very hard and would be extremely surprised if it sold that many.
- If GGG vs. Lemieux was like Canelo-Kirkland he would still be satisfied because it was action packed and exciting.
- Really wants Maidana vs. Matthysse.
- Grades for GGG vs. Lemieux and Mayweather-Berto cards? GGG vs. Lemiuex co-feature gets an A, the rest of the card is still being determined. Gives the Floyd-Berto match an F and the undercard an A-.
- Best division for fights right now? Would say WW, but many great fights have already happened and many good fights cannot be made (promotional issues). For the immediate future, MW has the best fights available (GGG-Lemieux, Canelo-Cotto, Lee-Saunders...and the winner's all promotionally able to fight each other).
- Rios vs. Bradley seems dead, but there is not other big fight out there for either fighter, so maybe they get more realistic with money expectations and make the fight.
- Very possible Hopkins fights Abraham within the next year. Could see it taking place either in the US or Germany. Probably makes more money in the US as HBO would pay more if it was in the US.
- Showtime has not told him about any future fights scheduled.
- RJJ absolutely wants to fight for the CW title.
- Past fighter's who could beat Mayweather? Several, but namely SRL and SRR.
- Ricardo Lopez vs. Chocolatito? Loves Chocolatito and he may one day be a HOF'er, but would choose Lopez. Best fighter 108 lbs and below.
- Putin said he would give RJJ a passport.
- Nothing specific on Cotto-Canelo tickets. Assumes ringside will be $1,750 to $2,000.
- Arum was on vacation in the UK and met with Hearn which is where the Brook-Bradley talk came from. It was merely musings, nothing serious. Doubts they fight anytime soon.
- Freitas has looked good in his comeback. He may not be at the same world class level, but it looks like he could be competitive and maybe win some fights against quality opponents. Would personally love to see Freitas vs. Danny Garcia.
- Freitas' recent fight deserves KO of the year nomination.
- The fact that Povetkin is the mandatory for the title it is a bit of a surprise he chose an opponent as good as Wach for his next fight.
- Has to believe Khan-Brook eventually happens because there is too much money and too much interest in the fight.
- HBO will air the Klitschko fight in the afternoon and then a replay of the Klitschko fight at night will the live fight of Crawford-Jean. Also could get the replay of GGG-Lemieux.
- Good chance Pacquiao vs. Crawford will happen at some point.
- Viloria is a good puncher and veteran, he has a chance vs. Chocolatito.
- Thoughts on Pacquiao saying that swimming in the ocean healed is arm? He talked to the surgeon, who happens to be a world class surgeon that has performed surgeries on Kobe and Brady, performed Pacquiao's rotator cuff surgery and said it was a significant tear. Pacquiao and Koncz were present for the interview. He absolutely had surgery on his shoulder, however he may not have taken rehab seriously.
- Bigger waste of talent: Broner or Guzman? Guzman.
- Believes that if this really was Floyd's last fight the promotion around the fight would market it as such. Instead they are calling it "High Stakes". Believes Floyd fights again.
- Very good chance Ward vs. Kovalev happens the second half of 2016.
- Provodnikov probably isn't fighting because his team is a little out of touch of what to expect from HBO offer wise. He is 1-2 in his last 3 fights (although he thought he beat Algieri).
- Trout vs. Hernandez is a bad matchup.
- Thought Canelo beat both Lara and Trout.
- The internet rumor that Canelo is making 20% of the purse while Cotto gets 80% is completely false.
- Looking forward to the Kameda-McDonnell rematch more than the main event of Dirrell-Rubio.
- Thinks that a Matthysse-Crawford fight is very likely in the future and would be a great fight.
- No desire to see a Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch.
- Has stories of how secretive and paranoid Haymon is (doesn't share any).
- Wlad is a top 15 all-time HW, probably top 10.
- Would like to see Pacquiao vs. Danny Garcia.
- The Spzilka fight would have made the broadcast on Spike last weekend had there been an early KO on one of the other fights.
- Scored Khan beating Peterson.
- A lineal champ who never held an organization's belt? George Foreman.
- Verdejo's hand recovery is going fine and he will be back around November.
- Tarver and Cunningham both can probably get themselves a decent fight after their fight vs. each other. Tarver can probably get a better opportunity.
- Does not expect Andrade to win his appeal vs. the WBO.
- Stevens vs. Kirkland? He'd watch it.

gee i wonder here who has said this before..

Freitas has looked good in his comeback. He may not be at the same world class level, but it looks like he could be competitive and maybe win some fights against quality opponents.

then he will take his mouthpiece out and quit when it gets tough for him
