we can agree to disagree but I feel Danny biggest problem is that he don't use his jab at all and if its not a hook he's not landing nothing at all now don't get me wrong he did do some good body work against Lamont but that's it for me I wasn't impressed with Danny last Saturday hell I think broner would have gave Danny problems

He shouldnt come up to 147 and fight Maidana in his very first fight at the new weight. I think Guerrero would be a good gauge for him at 147, being that Guerrero isnt a natural 147lber
Maidana isn't a natural Welterweight either. Most of these nikkas at 147 aren't

Maidana is a HUGE welterweight though, who also happens to be strong, uses rough house tactics, hits harder and has been hit by bigger punchers, and is very awkward in the ring. Swift was barely able to survive Lamont Peterson (once Peterson started to walk him down from the 8-12th rounds) who doesnt have the stalking ability, power punching, or chin that Maidana has. Can Swift deal with fighting going backwards for 12 rounds at 147, when he's already gassing out at 143?

I think putting Swift in with Maidana in his very 1st fight at 147 is crazy. Let him ease into the weight class with some of the smaller Haymon Welterweights like Guerrero, Berto, or Alexander first before putting him in with Maidana. Let him get use to their size and power at 147 first before throwing him in the deep end against, at WORST, the 2nd hardest puncher at 147

That's just imo.

Swift would beat the dogshyt out of Miadana and win by stoppage.. what big puncher has Maidana been in the ring with lately??

What do you consider lately?:mjpls:

And Swift doesnt hit hard enough to win by stoppage and his only punch with any force behind it is the left hook. Robert Garcia will take that away from him while Maidana is dangerous with both hands:birdman:

Also, Lamont Peterson left that fight with Garcia without a scratch on him.......Khan dropped Peterson twice:mjpls:

The "power" is exaggerated. Since 2011, he only has 2 KOs against 140lbers over his last 10 fights (not including the Rod Salka fiaso since he was a 135lber):manny:

Thats because peterson didn't get hit... Peterson was very evasive and they were fighting in a WWE wrestling size ring, but we're talking about Maidana aka Khan/Devon leftovers.. He's gonna get hit all night.. If Danny dont win by KO he wins by stoppage,..

Lately is lately my nig... When the last time Maidana been in the ring with a big puncher??

Joe Calzaghe: Carl Froch has not matched my legacy and doesn't have ability to go to America and beat Andre Ward

Joe Calzaghe: Carl Froch has not matched my legacy and doesn't have ability to go to America and beat Andre Ward

“A lot of people make comparisons to Carl Froch’s career to mine. But I don’t think there’s a comparison," Calzaghe said

Joe Calzaghe believes Carl Froch has not matched his legacy despite knocking out George Groves at Wembley last weekend.

Froch has since talked about either retiring or fighting in America Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr in Las Vegas.

Calzaghe finished his career by beating Bernard Hopkins in Sin City and Roy Jones Jnr in New York in the space of seven months in 2008.

The Welsh legend believes if Froch wants to fight in Las Vegas he should be targeting Andre Ward and not Chavez Jnr.

Ward is the only one of the world’s elite super-middleweights Froch has yet to beat with the American defeating the Cobra in 2011 on points.

“Not everyone can go out and conquer America,” said Calzaghe.

“A lot of people make comparisons to Carl Froch’s career to mine.

“But I don’t think there’s a comparison. I was undefeated, went to America and conquered America.

“I defeated two legends out there at different weights.

“I was the number one fighter, the number one champion at Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight.

“Froch has gone out to America and lost where he was bossed by Andre Ward.

Dan Rafael chat wrap 4/17:

Mayweather-Pacquiao:
- They are requiring purchased tickets for the weigh in is so people do not camp out in front of the arena. Tickets are $10 and will have reserved seats. Proceeds will go to charity.
- Still no real ticket information. It has been handled poorly. The fact that the ticket situation is still murky so close to the fight probably helps buyers. The brokers have less time to get rid of them and will be afraid of having left over inventory.
- The ticket issue is likely due to the fact that the two promotional sides and the casino still haven't decided how to divide the tickets and what seat locations they get.
- He believes it was negotiated, but someone does not want to live up to the agreement.
- % chance the ticket fiasco delays or affects the fight? 1%.
- Does not think Ellerbe is doing a bad job. He is in a tough situation and is very hard working.
- HBO's Mayweather-Pacquiao special will be after Matthysse-Provodnikov.
- Likely opponent for LSC is Alexis Santiago.
- Does not believe the winner will retire.
- Picking Mayweather to win, but gives Pacquiao a better chance to win than any of Mayweather's previous opponents.
- Won't predict if a KD will happen, but if one happens the arena atmosphere will be insane.
- Will break the PPV buy record with ease.
- Does not think Floyd's comments about not loving boxing will affect his performance at all.
- DLH will not be attending the fight. He spoke with him at length yesterday about his views on the fight, having fought both fighters. Story forthcoming.
- Floyd continues to tell people he will fight again in September and then retire.

The rest of boxing:
- Rumor that JCC will get a shot vs. Stevenson this Summer if he beats Fonfara.
- JCC says he will definitely make weight. The contract states he must give Fonfara $100k per pound over.
- Main Events is saying they cannot do a purse bid with Adonis Stevenson because Kovalev's contract with HBO is exclusive and they will not allow him to fight on another network (PBC would be expected to win purse bid). Stevenson says he will take the fight and will fight on whatever network bids the most.
- Duva pressured to get Kovalev made the mandatory vs. Stevenson. She thought at the time she had the upper hand. She didn't know that the purse bid was going to be unusually early (before either fighter fought their mandatory) and that she would be competing vs. Haymon's bankroll. She knows that she was outmaneuvered and will take the loss and move on.
- Believes there is no chance Stevenson-Kovalev gets made.
- Kovalev will not give up his belt. He will fight his mandatory Mohammedi.
- He hasn't looked forward to a fight as much as Matthysse-Provodnikov in quite a while.
- Benjy Esteves is refereeing Matthysse-Provodnikov.
- Verdejo will fight June 13th on HBO.
- Picking: JCC by decision, Crawford by decision, and Provodnikov by KO.
- He talked with Andrade at the Peterson-Garcia fight and Andrade jokingly said he wanted to get out of the WWSOB (Winky Wright School of Boxing). He knows that he gets picked on for not scheduling fights and is a good sport.
- Scored Peterson-Garcia a draw. If Peterson threw his hands just a little more in the beginning he probably wins those rounds.
- Maidana-Thurman? He has never heard rumors of that fight being made, but of course it is possible and would be a great fight.
- Rumor that the winner of Crawford-Dulorme and Matthysse-Provodnikov could fight each other.
- Likes both Porter-Bradley and Bradley-Rios as fights. Bradley-Rios is easier to make.
- Paul Smith is a rumored opponent for Andre Ward...but not a done deal.
- Barthelemy has been rumored as an opponent for Broner. Personally he isn't a fan of that matchup.
- SiriusXM says that the PBC radio broadcasting is not a time buy. Both sides are not charging each other and it is free programming.
- Marv Albert has been horrible at boxing commentating so far.
- Khan is fighting Algieri on SpikeTV two weeks BEFORE the date open to fight Brook at Wembley Stadium that he said wouldn't work...hmmmm....
- Does not think Khan KO's Algieri, since Algieri went the distance with Provodnikov and Pacquiao.
- Bey has 2 weeks to accept the purse bid. Bey is expected to decline and the fight will most likely not happen.
- Barclays' told him that the gate for Peterson-Garcia was the best they had ever had for a boxing match.
- Schaefer's sit out period ends this Summer and he should be allowed to conduct boxing business in August.
- Heard that Wilder's next opponent could be Tony Thompson and possibly on NBC.
- Disappointed that HBO put Hopkins on the broadcast team for the Matthysse-Provodnikov fight because Hopkins is part of Matthysse's promotional team. HBO needs to disclose this during the broadcast. When Sillakh fought on HBO they pulled RJJ off the broadcast for the same reason.
- Promoter's working with PBC get paid a fee to be involved. DiBella was paid a fee for last week's promotions.
- Thinks that Cotto-Geale is a decent fight and has some risk for Cotto.
- Victor Ortiz broke his hand in his December fight and had surgery. Talked with his trainer Joel Diaz and Ortiz is just starting to get back to training.
- Errol Spence has made it clear he wants to step up his competition.
- Oscar Valdez's KO last week was sensational and he is not far from a serious opponent.
- Nicholas Walters may be returning June 13. Nothing official.
- Kudryashov is a beast.
