You forgot to factor in Marcos going from making 1.5 the first fight to 3 mill for the second fight.

That would then make the PPV expenses EQUAL to the 1st fight, which means that Showtime REALLY did not earn anything significant for the 2nd fight in a row, and 3rd time over 4 fights with Mayweather under the deal he has like everyone keeps reporting.

PPV prices were through the roof, the game aint about PPV sales, if they up the price enough they make money hand over fist still........On top of that Fight 2 did just under a mill, which will probably trickle up to a mil, once nikkas like me pay my cable bill.................

How am I thinking like a fan:dahell:

I'm asking you how does one sell the idea to the higher ups that Floyd Chino 1 was a failure... So our solution is a rematch with less star power AND have to pay chino more

What person running a company would think that's a good idea to get out of the red??

Not to mention Floyd Chino 2 had a tour...so the cost cutting narrative to save money makes even less sense

It was way less promotion for this fight than it was for the 1st...be serious.

Secondly, if you are running a business, you cut costs in order to lessen the hit of expenditures. Less promotion, lesser fighters (which by the way FLOYD pays the undercard fighters himself, not Showtime, so he keeps more in his pockets than he did the 1st go around), similar sales equal the same or lesser hit that you take if the event doesnt reach the numbers you need it to make a good profit off of it.

Or could it be MAYBE just MAYBE the Floyd has to do a Milly to be a success is not true....then all that shyt makes sense doesn't it

Im going to go with the people with the sources who keep all reporting the same shyt, plus the fact that the head of showtime directly wouldnt answer any questions in regards to actual numbers in the interview.

Another Gold Medal
Dan Rafael chat wrap 9/26:

- Mayweather fighting on the same weekend as a potential Cotto-Canelo fight? No way it happens, the cable services won't allow it.
- Stephen Espinoza didn't want to approve Clottey for Canelo...but approved Salka for Danny Garcia. If Canelo was a client of Haymon, Espinoza would have approved the fight.

The more I hear about this Espinoza dude the less I like him.

Canelo out here strong arming the biggest draw in boxing dates :wow:

I dont appreciate Dan Rafael saying he buys Adrien Broner getting knocked out in a fight:to:

If it happens, as long as it's a TKO instead of a "being put to sleep", we good:mjcry:

Even Muhammad Ali lost by KO:manny:

- The new math equation is: TR+GB(-AH)=F
- His opinion is that Mayweather doesn't have a burning desire to fight Pacquiao. Most likely comfortable with his Showtime contract and guaranteed payday.
- Boxing business wise, Kirkland is frustrating and not intelligent.
- Feels bad for Rosado because it was a really good payday for him.
- Buy or Sell a GB fighter will fight Pacquiao next year: he is buying, but not sure who...remember that Haymon is still banned from HBO (Garcia-Pacquiao is not happening).
- Stiverne-Wilder are negotiating their fight, if an agreement isn't reached it is supposed to go to purse bid Oct. 1.
- Winner of Ali-Abregu fight puts himself in contention for a title shot.
- There will be a 24/7 for Hopkins-Kovalev...but just one episode as it is not PPV (rarely are 24/7's for non PPV fights).
- ShoBox ending rumors are untrue, according to Showtime.
- Avalos never "pulled" out of the Rigo fight. He was a mandatory, but didn't want the fight. Avalos is also the mandatory for Frampton and that is the fight he will be pursuing.
- The $79,000 would have been Avalos' biggest purse, but he will make much more vs Frampton...and thinks it is a more winnable fight.
- Does not believe Canelo-Pacquiao ever happens due to weight. Could potentially see Canelo fight JCC one day.
- Roman Gonzalez will fight once more this year and then sometime in 2015 look for a rematch with Estrada.
- If GGG beats Rubio he will get an interim title, where he becomes the mandatory for Cotto. Doesn't think it means anything. GGG already has one of the real belts, so if GGG-Cotto does not get made, doesn't think GGG is afraid to lose an interim belt. Also, Cotto is at the end of his career - he will not make any fight he does not want to make.
- Prefers 24/7 over All Access.
- Andrade-Korobov has been ordered, but it is a long way off from being made, if it even does get made.
- Believes Santa Cruz takes a Mares fight before Rigo as it will be bigger, more lucrative, and more exciting.
- Provodnikov will be fighting in November or December in Russia - Arum wouldn't get him any opponents that HBO would put on their broadcast.
- Showtime refused to comment when asked about Floyd saying All Access was staged.
- Buy or Sell: Adrian Broner will be knocked out in a fight - Buy.
- According to his sources the Mayweather-Maidana number are not close to 925k.
- Manny's performance vs Algieri has no effect on Mayweather-Pacquiao being made.
- Omar Chavez-Ramon Alvarez: picking Chavez.
- GB is no longer getting a % from Pacquiao fights.
- Rubio's chances vs GGG, slim.
- If Mayweather were to fight GGG at 154, Mayweather being KO'd is a very likely outcome.
- Mayweather is in his list of top 20 boxers of all time.
- The GGG fight is basically sold out. Standing room tickets had to be added.
- What is next for Adonis Stevenson? Probably a pointless fight in December.
- Mayweather and GB have not announced a break up in working together...but Canelo moving to HBO surely doesn't help.
- According to his contacts at HBO and Main Events, Adonis did have a verbal agreement with them and then jumped to Showtime.
- According to GB, Figueroa will not be vacating his Lightweight belt quite yet.

im very curious what opponents arum has been supplying HBO as candidates for Ruslan that they wont let an exciting fighter like him on TV
hopkins-kovalev needs a face to face as well
ali-abregu will be a good fight and ali will lose his zero
looking forward to that gonzalez-estrada remarch
rubio's chance against GGG maybe slim but hes a live dog..he did KO a much hyped power punching prospect before in Lemieux

i had to read that shyt 3 times too and it made no sense
Top Rank + Golden Boy (- Al Haymon) = Fight

In response to how he always gets inundated every week with people asking if Fighter A (HBO/TR) will fight Fighter B (Showtime/GB) and he always responds Top Rank + Golden Boy = no fight.
Now TR and Golden Boy are reconciling and will have fights appear on HBO...minus any GB fighters that are under Haymon's umbrella as those will only appear on Showtime.

I thought Prov was done with TR N that's why Arum doesn't wanna put his guys in with him N why HBO don't give him a fight

Shyt is a bytch ass statement from the jump, implying Haymon is a negative, and dikk and the booty ass scar and Rob Arum are positives, what matches have they made the past 2 years in comparison to Haymon, do they look out for the best interest of fighters and such......................

There is a slave mentality in the sport and they are trying to keep the brothers down.........................
