random question: how many of you know someone OUTSIDE of The Coli that knows as much about boxing as you? in other words are you the most knowledgeable boxing head you know?

:ld:
no not at all..ive met cats who put my knowledge and experience on boxing to shame..but they are like needles in a haystack though..for example my dude i mentioned on monday that was on TV for the boston FOX Sports card and in the corner for one of his fighters, Sean Farley...dude is a walking encylopedia of boxing knowledge...i met him through my homegirl when she was dating him..i met up with them for dinner when i was in their area...he was so impressed and excited that someone outside of his circles knew the names of lesser mentioned fighters and their fights that he paid for the whole fukking meal lol...needles in a haystack..but to my friends who watch the shyt casually im usually who they go to on whether or not a certain fight or card is gonna be good or not because i talk it about it alot on my fb and twitter

Probably one person, but he's significantly older than me & even he has kind of lost interest, because boxing has become such a slow moving sport. He's use to fighters being active, etc. I get it. Nowadays it would probably take over 2 years just to unify a division.

That's why message boards are so great. You get the chance to interact with people that have similar interest that you wouldn't necessarily encounter in your personal life.

Like I just can't talk to the average person about boxing, battle rap, etc. I like a lot of non mainstream shyt.

I don't know, it's always been hard for me to talk about boxing even to "boxing heads." It's one of those sports where people like what they like. I admire certain fighters based on their skill, but the outcome of a fight doesn't really affect me. You really can't speak boxing to someone where "their guy" is involved because they are so bias it becomes pointless.

Same here. Just because nikkas box don't mean they know boxing. We had mad dudes who couldn't tell you shyt about the sport. The coaches used to love the fact that I actually watched and loved boxing. Not just doing it because I was good at it or to stay in shape.

shyt is sad for real. Imagine going to play a pick up game of b-ball and nobody knows who Lebron and Wade are. :what:

2 years in this climate? zab and winky are the last champions to be unified and undisputed and thats like 8-9 years ago...well maybe haye with the cruiser belts too...but i dont think he held the ibf version...with the belts being as splintered as they are esp with this cold war...i cant think of any division right now where an undisputed unification can take place

its not that bad. its more like them not knowing who a non-all star is....like OJ Mayo or Wesley Matthews is. because around me, people know who Broner is but they dont know Danny Garcia. which is still pathetic.

shyt, it's bad if it's the year 2003 and you're training in a boxing gym and you don't know who Roy Jones Jr is. Mind you we're in Florida breh. :snoop:

unifying is almost impossible now. just get that shyt out cha head. when Zab did it (it was Spinks who actually unified), it was because Mayorga was underestimated by Forrest and his title fell into the hands of DKP fighters. Winky has Oscar to thank indirectly...because Oscar fought Fernando and Shane would took the belts. Had Shane not had anyone else to fight, Winky may not have been undisputed.

I am hoping Crawford can get Vasquez. thats a fight that is doable now. Abril fight can be made. The only fight I dont see happening is Gamboa.

His stock went down -1000 when he ducked a washed up Rahman

Bottom line is both Klits get slighted because of their negotiating /ducking tactics, if a certain style doesn't mess let Wlad handle him and Vice Versa.....

I will admit...I was way the fukk off base when I thought he was terrified of Peter. I was sure he was gonna duck that fight. That was a time I can say I couldnt have been more wrong. :snoop:

Herrera Tells Danny and Angel Garcia: Admit You Lost!
Posted by: Luis Sandoval on 3/19/2014 .
By Luis Sandoval

The boxing world is still talking about last Saturday night’s fight between Junior Welterweight champion Danny Garcia and Mauricio Herrera where most people felt Herrera deserved the victory over his unbeaten opponent. Garcia’s homecoming to Puerto Rico was much harder than he expected as he went 12 hard rounds with Herrera and was awarded a controversial Majority Decision victory.

Herrera is regarded as a tough out as he’s never been dropped or stopped in his career and holds a victory over current WBO Junior Welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov and gave Mike Alvarado a tough fight as well. While most fans and media felt Herrera did enough to earn a victory over Garcia, the judges saw it differently.

BoxingScene spoke to Mauricio Herrera and asked for his thoughts now that he’s had some time to reflect and let everything sink in. Herrera says he’s watch the fight about 5 times and he gets more upset with each viewing as he feels he won the fight clearly. He would definitely like a rematch but more than that, he thinks both Danny and his father/trainer Angel Garcia need to admit they lost.

“I mean he knows and his dad knows; [Angel] says he speaks the truth in all his videos so hopefully he speaks the truth and sees that his son had a bad day. Yeah he had a bad day and he lost; he didn’t have a bad day and won. He had a bad day and he lost that night and they need to admit that. Even though it was their homecoming and all the buzz was about them, the people in Puerto Rico were not satisfied and I think I killed their whole momentum from the start” Herrera would tell BoxingScene.

Herrera was a heavy underdog coming into fight and while he didn’t endure a sustained verbal onslaught from Angel Garcia like most opponents, Angel did say he felt Herrera was not on their level. He pointed to the fact that Herrera had fought on ESPN and reminded that this was a bigger stage and Danny was a different fighter.

Given what transpired in the ring Saturday night, Herrera was asked if that was a small victory for him to be able to prove to the world and Angel that he’s not a lower tier fighter.

“Yeah, [Angel] was talking a lot of stuff like that which didn’t make sense. He had said Ruslan [Provodnikov] was an ESPN fighter and he had said who I am if I beat him. Ruslan is a world champion. He fought on ESPN and became a world champion. In my mind I was saying ‘Danny Garcia fought on ESPN’ so he was an ESPN fighter too and now he became a world champion. I thought to myself and told everybody I’m from ESPN and I’ll become world champion too. And now I’m a champion but without no belt” said Herrera.

Herrera hopes to land a rematch but if that doesn’t happen, he’s confident his promoter Golden Boy Promotions who he just recently signed with will have something good in store for him.
