Mares might be scared to jump in the ring with Jhonny. He proabably wants to test that chin before he fights Jhonny again
so instead of invoking his rematch clause and go after jhonny again...he's going after another champ at 130 ..yeah thats not a good look
Everybody cant have the heart of Adrien Broner breh
Mares is scared
No doubt. I was picking Jhonny in the rematch. 130 though...too bad he can't get Mikey. It wasn't just the power but the skills that has Abner shook Jhonny beautifully set up the cannon blast that took Mares soul

Carl Froch's rematch with George Groves will not go to purse bids. The IBF have confirmed to BoxingScene that both parties have reached a private agreement. The Super middleweight title fight should be announced on Sky's Ringside show on Thursday evening and is likely to take place in May.
"We have been informed by Carl Froch's people and George Groves's people that they have come to an agreement, so it will not go out to purse bids," said Daryl J. Peoples, the IBF's President, when speaking to BoxingScene over the phone.
"It is an excellent fight, great for the IBF and the U.K., and I understand that there's been quite a demand for it (the rematch) — they're two top-notch fighters. We haven't been notified of a venue just yet — they're trying to finalize those details — but I understand that the contracts will be with us soon."
Eddie Hearn of Matchroom confirmed that an extension to the deadline was agreed by the IBF and that a deal is being worked on, but he sounded a cautionary note. "We asked for an extension last Friday," said Hearn. "We sent an email saying we'd made progress and would get the contracts to them in due course, so it's still ongoing, but close. We have made significant progress, but they (the IBF) haven't got contract yet and until we send them it's not done.
"Without a question," he said when asked if it is a viable a stadium fight. "I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I took this indoors because you never know what it could have done."
It ends the "Will they, won't they" soap opera saga that has dominated British boxing's headlines ever since referee Howard Foster stopped their first fight in the ninth-round in November. Many felt that the stoppage at Manchester's Phones 4U Arena was premature, despite the BBBoC backing Foster over his decision, and calls for a rematch have reverberated throughout the domestic scene over the past few months.
Groves has consistently maintained that his head was clear when Foster stepped in; he even went as far as lobbying the IBF for a rematch, citing the referee's decision. His wish was granted last month when the governing body upheld "Saint" George's complaint and ordered a return. A February 8th deadline was imposed, beyond this point it would have gone to purse bids, but the parties managed to work things out in time.
IBF purse bids rules meant that Groves could have been facing an 85-15% split in Froch's favour; Groves appealed against this decision but was unsuccessful; that split is now moot as a deal has been reached.
Groves has also attempted to have the result changed to a No Contest, he submitted his case to the BBBoC last week and it is being heard today. It means that, as things stand right now, Groves is still 19-1 (15) going into the return bout, but he will have learned a lot from the first fight. The 25-year-old is likely to give "The Cobra", 32-2 (23), another rough night.
Froch, though, believes he was in the ascendency and has argued that the stoppage prevented him from a glorious, and clean, KO win. The 36-year-old champion will no doubt hope to underline his credentials by removing any lingering doubts doubt come fight night.

After being subjected to endless speculation following his career best win over Indonesian legend Chris John, South Africa's Simpiwe Vetyeka's next fight has taken a clear direction with the news that he will defend his WBA/IBO featherweight crowns against Nonito Donaire in Macau, China on May 10.
The fight will be staged by Top Rank and while the contracts are yet to be signed, it looks like a done deal.
“Yes we have accepted Top Rank's terms and next week we will be flying to the US to sign the contracts,”confirmed Vetyeka's manager Andile Sidinile.
Donaire (32-2, 21 KOs) becomes the fifth fighter lining up to face Vetyeka (26-2, 16 KOs) who has become some sort of an overnight sensation since inflicting the first professional loss on John when he forced him to quit in the sixth round in Australia last December.
The 33-year old South African was first scheduled to face John in a rematch due to the rematch clause in their contract, but John announced his retirement.
Then the WBA mandated him to face Jamaican Nicholas Walters who is the regular champion in the division.
But that fight fell off with Japanese Akifumi Shimoda emerging as a likely foe in Macau next weekend.
For unknown reasons that fight also fell off the radar and now Donaire is said to be the boxer expected to be on the opposite corner when Vetyeka makes the maiden defense of his WBA crown.
However there was also a mention of Vetyeka facing Abner Mares on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather's expected return on May 3.
While Sidinile declined to confirm, sources have revealed that Golden Boy Promotion's Richard Schaefer contacted the camp this week to try to make the fight.
It is reported that the Vetyeka camp was keen on fighting on Mayweather's card in light of the worldwide exposure he would have received but when Schaefer delayed to come up with an offer, Donaire's deal was taken.
Sidinile confirmed that former IBF junior featherweight champion Vuyani Bungu and BoyBoy Mpulampula will train Vetyeka for the Donaire fight.
Mpulampula was recently fired as a chief trainer of former IBF and IBO minimumweight champion Nkosinathi Joyi before Joyi's shocking third round knock-out defeat by Filipino journeyman Rey Loreto in Monaco a fortnight ago.
The pair was in Vetyeka's corner when he stunned John in his last fight in Australia.
Vetyeka will become the third South African fighter Donaire has faced, with the Filipino Flash having stopped Moruti Mthalane in six rounds for the IBF flyweight crown way back in 2008 in Las Vegas.
The 31-year-old Filipino also beat Jeffrey Mathebula on points when they clashed for the WBO/IBF junior featherweight title unification in California in 2012 when Mathebula suffered a broken jaw.
Coincidentally both Mthalane and Mathebula are former stablemates of Vetyeka.
But Sidinile believes Donaire's good run against South African fighters will come to an end on May 10.
“If people thought that Vetyeka's beating of John was an upset wait until he beats Donaire on May 10,” he said.
. I thought Donaire and Walters were going to fight. This should be interesting. Donaire needs to look in better shape than he did vs Vic to keep his career going.

So JMM won't fight Provodnikov cuz he won't sell he's not a draw
BUT Hell fight Mike Alvarado
Mafia?Never stanned any boxer on here, but Mares not taking the Gonzales rematch definitely let the #MaresMafia down. shyt's disappointing.
I can't say he's a hype job or was never that good, because hype jobs and average boxers don't beat guys like Darchiniyan, Ponce Deleon, Agbeko 2x, and Moreno. He just ran into a a bad style and fought the wrong fight. It looks like he lost a bit of confidence in the process. Hope he rebounds and takes care of business.
As for JMM he has an uphill battle against anyone he fights. He'd get soul clapped if he faces Provodnikov. Alvarado might do his struggle boxing version of what Bradley did and give JMM a harder than expected fight. Marquez is fukked either way. Who else they gonna throw at him....Jessie Varags, Abregu. Them dudes barely have names as well.
