those purses were announced BEFORE the fight. those were the guarantees. how do you guarantee a fight not knowing what the outcome of revenue stream will be? well....you can estimate and thats how you come up with it. but, you must have some measures and deals in place in the event of shortcomings. the casino endorsements and international rights all play a factor. the fight did what they predicted (or so they said) but I am sure they hoped for a little bit better. If the total revenue stream falls short of the predicted goals....someone has to take that hit. Thats why I am saying Arum and TR looked like they were willing to sacrifice more than what they normally would in terms of income but cutting corners and expenses elsewhere. We dont know what the "other sources" brought in but the budgetary report still looks like it may have been very tight. I think we will hear more about this fight and what it really did financially come back up at a later time. its like @InvictusAeternusEternus said....if we are to take those reports for face value, then why are they coming back to fight at the MGM Grand?
If the backend revenue stream comes up short, the promoter takes a loss.. SIMPLE... it doesn't effect guarantee purses... I still don't get this HUGE loss nikkas is talking about TR "sacrificed" by having the fight in China. . The dollars HAD to make sense for them to proceed
