Good scraps tonight. I still don't think Stevenson or Kovalev have really fought fights yet that let us know who they are and what they are capable of. As impressive as Stevenson's power has been, he really has to be the counter puncher to be effective, and at this point a skilled fighter it looks like they could neutralize a lot of what Stevenson can do. Kovalev, I think has fought weaker competition and is tough to judge how good he really is. By watching him, he may not have the one punch power Stevenson has in his left, but over both hands from the full repertoire of punches I think Kovalev is the harder puncher. Chins...dunno...both haven't really been tested against a fighter I would say is great.
Personally if they fought each other next, I would favor Kovalev, but definitely wouldn't be surprised with any outcome.

#4 ranked Strawweight Merlito Sabillo vs. #9 ranked Strawweight Carlos Buitrago

Good fight, would like to see a rematch, if Buitrago were faster I believe he could've had Sabillo out of there because his counters were on point. I don't know how Sabillo didn't drop in the 9th. Wanheng, Hara and Budler are ranked 2-4 by the WBO so Sabillo won't have it any easier from here on out...

#11 ranked Flyweight Milan Melindo vs. Jose Alfredo Rodriguez

Comeback win, time to step it back up...not a rematch with Estrada though.

Welterweight Jorge “Maromerito” Paez (37-4-1, 22 KOs) scored a seventh round KO over Ivan Hernandez (29-5, 23 KOs) in the main event on Saturday night at the Auditorio del Estado in Mexicali, BCN, Mexico. Paez dropped Hernandez with a left hook to the chin in round four, then finished him with the same punch in round seven.

While celebrating his victory, former multi-division world champion Erik “Terrible” Morales, entered the ring and challenged “Maromerito” to a fight. Paez agreed immediately. According to promoter Zanfer, if negotiations go smoothly, this fight could take place in March 2014, possibly in Mexicali or Tijuana, hometowns of “Maromerito” and “Terrible” respectively.
:wtf:

“The WBC board of governors has accepted to extend the time until december 15 to have the final decision regarding the heavyweight division. The Holiday season was fundamental for this delay in communications.”
:rudy:

Liverpool’s Tony Bellew gave it a go against the hard-hitting and skilled Adonis Stevenson, yet “Bomber” was himself bombed out in what turned out to be a one-sided fight. Speaking with Sky Sports after his 6th-round stoppage loss, Bellew said he feels it may be time for him to move up in weight.

“It wasn’t supposed to be,” Bellew said of his challenge of Stevenson. “Maybe it’s time for me to jump up in weight now. Someone else has recently jumped up in weight and it might be time for me to do it. Might it have been one too many [fights at 175-pounds] for me? I was feeling them tonight and it’s not like me to feel shots. Tonight I did.”
:mjpls:

Former world IBF super middleweight champion Jeff “Left Hook” Lacy (26-4, 18 KOs) returned to the ring on Saturday night, scoring a third round TKO over against local fan favorite Martin Verdin (20-17-2, 11 KOs) in a super middleweight clash at the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Following an almost three-year layoff, it was Lacy’s first fight since his disappointing loss to Dhafir Smith on December 11, 2010.

im happy left hook won his comeback fight and by KO..it had been 8 years since he had stopped someone but how far does he think he'll go at 168?..
Just collect pay checks, he won't go far, he's too limited and too far past his prime
