I think y'all bein a lil hard on Omar pause...

Sometimes you get into a brawl N it is what it is...there's no way outta it:manny:

If he respected the japanese mexicans power maybe he doesnt brawl N does box:ld:

Omar has to tighten up his skills. He allowed Arawata to dictate. A tall rangy guy like that has to use his strengths. It was a learning experience...IF he will learn from it.
The Collazo fight was probably the fight where we all realized he wasn't as good as wet all thought.

it wasnt for me...I liked Collazo. he was a really good fighter. quick with fast reflexes good boxer. he just chose to brawl a lot. I am not sure what expectations for Berto was. He reminds me of Lacy a lil bit. Both were better when they used their feet and more boxing skill. Berto was only gonna be so good but I think Hunter isnt the right guy for him. Berto really not a smart fighter....if he was, he couldve beaten both Ortiz and Guerrero. The gameplan for Soto-Karass was all wrong....he looked in trouble in round one.

just a rant....

it pisses me off when ref's dont give a full count on a guy who is on their feet. dont get me wrong....refs have a hard ass job...but if I were a ref...the one thing I would do would be to give a full count before I waive it off. not saying Berto could continue but he jumped right back up...and you penalize a fighter for getting up too soon. Like Max Kellerman said...there is an amount of time for the oxygen and response to get back to your legs...that time....is 10 seconds! there is a reason why they have 8 counts and 10 counts. Teddy Atlas said thats the best way to remove subjectivity. We saw what happened to Berto and he deserved an 8 count. I have seen refs count when a guy has attempted to get up and fell back down twice before. There are some bad stoppages...and most of them occur when the ref doesnt count.

With this new format...how do you make subject lines?

Anyway....just to liven things up a bit. New trivia game....I will post some quotes and you guys guess who they are.

Fighter A - "He was a chain snatcher. I never snatched a chain in my life."
Fighter B - "'Look at 'em. His shorts are so high, it should be a turtleneck.''

Berto's trainer should have stopped the fight after round 3 when he hurt his shoulder, the ref was doing Berto a favor, his career is already shot to shyt what difference does it make if he counts to eight or stop it immediately....

Had Berto continued and took further punishment yall would have been calling for the ref's head, he took a massive ass whipping in round 11 and got dropped on a short short hook with little leverage, you want Berto to get killed, did you not see the swelling and blood pouring from his mouth post knockdown:stopitslime:

you doin too much. fam here know what I mean. this aint about Berto. same shyt happened to Zab. no one said for the ref to let it continue. just count. thats all. thats why you have a count available right? a lot of times less experienced refs panic. you have to realize when you are in the ring...you deal with the personality of a ref because everyone is different. thats why I really like Smoger. sometimes he looks like he is advising the fighters which he shouldnt do but he always gives an adequate look at the fighter. give the count and if the fighter doesnt look good then stop it. who says it must continue just because a count was administered? Berto was complaining as soon as the fight was stopped. the Dawson stoppage was good IMO, you cant ask the ref to do more in that instance and Dawson wasnt complaining...he got a full 8.

I still say he was overrated. Him giving us all those action fights should have proved that. Cause if he was an elite fighter he wouldn't have went life or death with the Collazo's of the world.

question is...who here considered him elite? nikkas get too excited then say someone was overrated when they are the one that rated him that way in the first place. beating Mickey Rodriguez for a vacant belt dont make you elite. going the distance with Urango who Alexander stopped dont make you elite either. Devon is not even an elite fighter. I want to know which one of you nikkas really thought Berto was an elite fighter? :what:

for the record...I dont consider a fighter elite unless he has won a career defining fight or cleaned out a division. like Martinez, Ward, Donaire, Rigo, Klitschko's, etc....
Berto was never in any career defining fights...plus, all his losses he was the favorite to win. people to quick to sniff these nikkas balls.

when the ref was walking him to his corner he threw his hands out....the cameras werent focused on that only focused on Soto-Karass. 10 seconds had NOT elapsed.

read what I said....carefully. you are penalizing a fighter because he got up too soon...had he stayed down the ref may have let it continue. refs panic when they see that shyt. I have jumped out of my easy chair too fast and got dizzy as hell....I didnt try to walk or I probably wouldve fell. and I didnt get punched.... when you are horizontal...sometimes it takes a few secs for blood to flow back down to your legs or up to your brain. I assume you agree with the Tszyu-Judah stoppage too. If you do thats your opinion...but I just dont agree with refs who dont count when a fighter has attempted to stand on his feet. I have seen guys roll all over, drool...fall through the ropes and not have the fight stopped.

this was a good stoppage and you can argue that Carr was still able to go. Steele gave him the count and still waived the shyt off. Just count...thats all I am sayin.
