My opinion is that he aint shyt should have lost his last 4 matches in opponents tailor made for him and in that time frame he ducked his most legit competition which was a post Margarito Mosley, thats all you need to know about Berto's bum ass

Berto didnt duck Mosley. That fight wouldve vaulted him. He wouldve been the same fighter but in a higher status. Plus gotten a career payday. No. That was Haymon's move to make a name fight with Money May. All Haymon fighters have to bow down at some point or at least do a favor for a favor.

That scenario would have been acceptable for me had he faced Mosley later on, but he faced the Quitana, Hernendez, Zavecks of the world......

I still feel a move up vs slower fighters will extend his career and not cutting my help his chin problems but he's an lost cause at this point

The fight took a lot out of Omar I think he wont be the same going forth, while China Boy was smiling at the very end the look on Omar's face told the tale who really won the event, it appeared as if Omar was relieved he clearly doesnt want a fight like that again

Let's see if this war takes something out of Omar, and does it make him switch up his strategy to mix up boxing more

And oh yeah, I turned down my stanning a couple notches because AB doesnt fight again until about November. I decided to let yall live for a couple months, being that Garcia/Matthysse/Mayweather/Alvarez are all actually fighting in less than 7 weeks. Once "The Can Man" is back on the schedule....my stanning will be resume back up to UNGODLY levels

I dont wanna hear nikkas in here talkin shyt about Berto. Its no win with fight fans. I wouldnt say he was overrated....I never remember him really being overrated. Overhyped yes. Overhyped and overrated are two different things in my book. Because of his hype he was paid a lot of money by HBO...I wouldnt say he was overpaid though because of the action fights he provided us with. I dont remember him being in a bad fight. The fight with Collazo was We like to talk shyt about Berto aint this or that but dude got ridiculous heart and is in great physical condition or he wouldve been stopped early. He takes a good punch. He got hit with a perfect shot and he may have been done..but I hate when refs dont give a count. To paraphrase Teddy Atlas...to remove some subjectivity a count should be mandatory when a fighter is on his feet.

@patscorpio I dont know if that split decision draw was that far off....depending on swing rounds and if the Berto KD round was scored 10-8. the best thing to do is to get the scorecards and re-watch and re-score the fight with the sound off. For the record I thought Berto was losing...but not sure if I would say that looking through the judges eyes.

Lastly, Berto to me is a man with no country. Berto's style of fighting (especially under Virgil Hunter) is just not suited for him at WW. He just doesnt move enough and he doesnt use his jab or combinations enough. If you notice...when he was using the left exclusively...he fought much better...particularly with the jab. He is too small for JMW and I know he cant make 140. He is almost in a position of Dawson now....but the difference is he is an exciting fighter that can still get on TV pretty easy.

Berto reminds me of Meldrick Taylor but not as good offensively and this fight reminded me of Taylor vs Espana. A fight where a long and strong WW battered a smaller more athletic WW. Hopefully Berto doesnt end up like Taylor after boxing.

Big ups to Soto-Karass. He is a solid fighter...I knew that before this fight...but now people will see. He is not great but he is a handful for anybody at WW. Forget about his record...this guy is a force.

I still say he was overrated. Him giving us all those action fights should have proved that. Cause if he was an elite fighter he wouldn't have went life or death with the Collazo's of the world.
