Berto has proven to be slightly overrated after he started taking on decent competition. It says something that he has never beaten an elite fighter in their prime and here he is almost 30 years old. He had an easy run to a title that allowed him to be called champion but he has proven that he is just a very good fighter and not one of the best of the best. And it's a shame because he had all the tools to be a pound for pound best. But it seems like it's been one setback after another. From the cancellation of the Mosley fight to losing to Ortiz to testing positive for steroids. It's just been one thing after another that kept Andre from reaching his potential.

I dont wanna hear nikkas in here talkin shyt about Berto. Its no win with fight fans. I wouldnt say he was overrated....I never remember him really being overrated. Overhyped yes. Overhyped and overrated are two different things in my book. Because of his hype he was paid a lot of money by HBO...I wouldnt say he was overpaid though because of the action fights he provided us with. I dont remember him being in a bad fight. The fight with Collazo was :whew: We like to talk shyt about Berto aint this or that but dude got ridiculous heart and is in great physical condition or he wouldve been stopped early. He takes a good punch. He got hit with a perfect shot and he may have been done..but I hate when refs dont give a count. To paraphrase Teddy Atlas...to remove some subjectivity a count should be mandatory when a fighter is on his feet.

@patscorpio I dont know if that split decision draw was that far off....depending on swing rounds and if the Berto KD round was scored 10-8. the best thing to do is to get the scorecards and re-watch and re-score the fight with the sound off. For the record I thought Berto was losing...but not sure if I would say that looking through the judges eyes.

Lastly, Berto to me is a man with no country. Berto's style of fighting (especially under Virgil Hunter) is just not suited for him at WW. He just doesnt move enough and he doesnt use his jab or combinations enough. If you notice...when he was using the left exclusively...he fought much better...particularly with the jab. He is too small for JMW and I know he cant make 140. He is almost in a position of Dawson now....but the difference is he is an exciting fighter that can still get on TV pretty easy.

Berto reminds me of Meldrick Taylor but not as good offensively and this fight reminded me of Taylor vs Espana. A fight where a long and strong WW battered a smaller more athletic WW. Hopefully Berto doesnt end up like Taylor after boxing.

:salute: to Berto for his heart

Big ups to Soto-Karass. He is a solid fighter...I knew that before this fight...but now people will see. He is not great but he is a handful for anybody at WW. Forget about his record...this guy is a force.

Nihito Arakawa was the star of the night imo. Never seen a dude fight like that and be so happy to do so. Ended every round with a smile. Sad he doesnt have more power or he'd have killed Figueroa. Fig is an extremely heavy handed fighter but with his wide punching....he is looking at a defeat coming soon. He's ok...but is looking at real danger when he faces someone with more power who can take his shots like Arakawa did.

Thurman impressed me by getting through a tough fight like he did and delivering a KO. If he doesnt get too far ahead of himself he will have a good future. Thats future p4p stuff right there. Love to see Chaves again. He is a good fighter with pretty good all around ability...he may have just ran into a future killer in Thurman.

Great card...but I dont know how many times I have to say it...nikkas be actin surprised and shyt...but Showtime been runnin this shyt as far as competitive action fights.. FOR YEARS.

:salute: to Sho

@synistr damn the berto-soto karass fight (although :salute: jesus) breh...what did you think of that figueroa-arakawa fight?....have you ever seen a fight like that before?

Its seems like every year or two I always find myself saying I have never seen a fight like this before. I have never seen a guy so outgunned early will himself like that...take a beating..and come out smiling at the end of each round. If you ask me...there should be a KO Kings III with the exact same fights....and I am sorry...but that would be worth a PPV fee of $39-49.

The Collazo fight was probably the fight where we all realized he wasn't as good as wet all thought.

once again a fighter with zero muscles beats a fighter with alot of muscles

muscles create waste material in the body that has to get cleansed out by oxygen which is why we have lungs: to pump oxygen to the muscles and carry out waste ie carbon dioxide. more muscle = more oxygen you need to get to you muscles when you use them and more waste material your body needs to get rid of

why do these fighters keep adding muscle. big muscles are the worst handicap to have in boxing hands down
