I honestly think he would. I dont think it mattered AT ALL as far as him fighting on a PPV against JMM. One, Arum has PPV dates that he has to book. Two, Bradley didnt have to fight Prov...it was supposed to be a tune up basically. They were gonna fight off the strength that they both hold a win over :flabbymanny:

now to sort of agree with you...his fight with Prov generated more interest with hardcore fans like us here....I still am not really that pumped about it....I mean its a good fight but I look forward to the FMJ-Canelo more.
Bradley did himself and the PPV favors with his previous fight...but Arum is gonna make those PPVs with his biggest guys regardless.

Breh, nobody preaches about business and marketability on here more than I do. I am not arguing Rigo's perils...I just disagree with anybody who thinks this aint on TR and that Rigo wouldnt do better elsewhere or as an independent.

I dont know if Rigo is begging HBO for x-amount of money or dates. Maybe he is content with what he makes. I am just saying its the promoters job to promote...if not, then they should let you go if you are un-promotable. Come on man, they knew his marketability when they signed him...they just thought dude was food for Donaire and they were mistaken. Now Rigo in between a rock and a hard place because he won a fight that he shouldnt have. Now you have his promoter making fukked up media statements and quotes about his fighting style...man...aint no promoter supposed to be engaging no counter-productive fukkery like that.

Although Rigondeaux (12-0, 8 KOs) defeated Donaire, Arum said HBO has shown no interest in his next fight. "Every time I mention him, they throw up," Arum said. Rigondeaux, while immensely talented does not make for exciting fights.

"So I have to figure out who I could put him in with," said Arum, adding that he didn't think it was right that HBO pushed for him to match Donaire with Rigondeaux and now has turned its back on the winner.

That's a fight Ill have on stream while cleaning my house :heh: I never understood the David Haye hype.
Me neither. He's very overrated IMO.

I remember a couple years ago, somebody tried to tell me Haye was going to take over and be the face of the division :deadmanny:

If he's the face, then the Heavyweight division really is dead :laff:

Y'all are hating on Haye too much, yes he lost to a Klitschko but it doesn't mean he's a bum.

He knows where his bread is buttered and that's in the UK. Superfights only. Superfights = other big UK names or Klitschkos. Mock him all you want but as a top heavyweight he's playing it good. He doesn't need to fight everyone in front of him, he's already at #2 and is chilling there.

And count me in the "Bradley fought stupidly so he got JMM on PPV" camp. One crazy ass fight made him into an instant fan favorite and got him another PPV with a p4p guy. As opposed to.... getting Prods after Pacman.

haye-fury will be a good brawl and haye should definitely take out fury within 6 rounds..i need to see fury's jaw shattered

2 things are guaranteed.

Atmosphere will be electric and Haye decapitates Fury with a picture perfect right hook :datazz:

How was the 50 cent boxing event?

Gary Russell Jr. turns down fight with Daniel Ponce De Leon - Bad Left Hook

Been waiting for Russell jr to take a step up in comp and he turns a great fight down :shaq2:

If the Floyd card is really Mayweather vs Alvarez, Garcia vs Matthysse and Trout vs Lara I'll definitely be purchasing :salute:

Also I see we've been demoted from first page :damn:

EXACTLY!!!!! Breh, u hit it on the head...I was just about to post that. Who is calling shots? HBO or TR? Its the 52 fake out. ALL parties wanted the Donaire fight. When Rigo won....SO CONVINCINGLY...thats what made the Rigo a tough sell afterwards. Remember how Raheem SOUNDLY outboxed El Terrible? See, they were not even able to make the shyt close enough for a disputed decision. When Rigo shut out Donaire...then HBO or TR were not going to make a rematch. If it was a fight they thought they could turn around and win immediately...they wouldve made the fight...I dont care how boring they say Rigo is.

Arum just trying to deflect blame.

The WBC has ruled that Marco Antonio Rubio fights Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for the interim middleweight title. They’re respectively one and two in the rankings. The WBC will wait until both fighters complete the bouts they’ve already signed up for. Free negotiations will start the Monday after their bouts. In the event one of them looses, the WBC will name another challenger. WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez, who’s recovering from surgery, last week visited Mexico. He’s been notified about this decision, which he accepts. The WBC Board of Governors has unanimously voted he remain champion. WBC’s #3 , Italian Domenico Espada, will face #4 Mexican Gilberto Ramirez in a final elimination to become the mandatory challenger of the interim champion.

Hype for the fight is real but :scusthov: at everyone else buying into the Matthysse hype.

:pacspit: at Boxrec for having Matthysse ranked #1 over Garcia.

After Danny KO's him we celebrating to the finest reggaeton and mofongo :myman:

Rigo is 12-0.... TWELVE!!!! A win over Nonito aint gonna change this... He's not marketable..... YET

 Rigo vs somebody on Cotto's undercard in FL will draw views and sell tickets

Arum is just trying to punish him for beating Nonito and keep his profile low so he can resign him for cheap

breh...number of fights dont mean shyt. look at Zou and what they are doing with his ass. he will make 500k for his fight with Ortega and by the time he fights his 3rd fight...that fight he will be paid more than Rigo made against Donaire. Not comparing the marketability just proving that number of fights has nothing to do with it.

I agree that Rigo is not a very marketable fighter...but for his promoter to double talk him is not right. His promoter's job is to do just that...promote him to the world. Find some decent fighters that will make him look like a monster. Pay beltholders a decent purse to defend against him. Or....simply say...we cant promote you, its best we do an amicable split. Just dont hold a guy's career hostage and act like your hands are tied because HBO said such and such. Bullshyt.

Its other networks he can get on and stay active. 3 fights a year at $250k aint nothing to sneeze at and i am sure Rigo will accept it if he is getting paid regularly. Sitting on the shelf waiting for a million dollar pay day aint good for a guy in his 30's fighting in the lower weights. His advisor and manager need to be raising pure hell about this.

Quoted for truth. This is exactly what Rigo, Zahir Raheem and all of the other "boring" fighters will have to do to make it to the next level (HBO main events, and/ or PPVs).

We all know their styles are bringing anyone to the TV sets to watch them. (And before anyone says Floyd is too defensive, he can be, but he will mix it up when needed. Also, he PROMOTES the hell of the fights beforehand, so that makes people want to watch). Rigo is a great fighter, might be top 15-20 in the world right now, but who in here would pony up $500, $1,000+ for a ringside seat to watch him fight "defensively"? What arenas will Rigo fill? Who would pay $60 to see Rigo headline a PPV?

And for the dude who said that HBO should have him on undercards to unify belts, he isnt gonna make any money doing that. Why would HBO have a World Champ at his asking price on an undercard? They would still have to pay the headline fight big money, so they would lose $$ every time Rigo fought. Makes NO business sense. What kind of champ are you if you can't headline cards?

Bottom line, I personally like watching Rigo fight, but I agree with HBO on this, and it's not Arum fault (and I hate that dude with a passion). Styles make fights, and brawls bring eyes to TV sets, period. Rigo has 2 options: open up his style for more offense more often (like Bradley did, and got a PPV spot), or keep being an opponent. He is thisclose to becoming this decades Winky Wright.
ward and hopkins has had plenty of fights on hbo.
