Richard Scheaffer On Canelo and a weight penalty:

“There is of course a very stiff, huge penalty if he were to come in overweight; well in excess of a million dollars. But there is no [limit] after the weigh in. He has to do 152 and after that, there are no limitations. I read in some places that [said]there's a next day weigh in but no, there's no next day weigh in”

On Canelo's ability to make weight;

“You know Canelo came in for Austin Trout at 153 1/2 and he was eating hamburgers the morning of the fight. You know he's never had a nutritionist so I think in a way it’s actually going to help him to make him even sharper because he will now get a nutritionist and he will have the right nutrition and strength and conditioning. So I think in a way it’s actually a plus for Canelo to go to 152”:smugfavre:

Lol once upon a time, Dawson was saying he could lose weight to make a catchweight too. Hopefully Canelo doesnt share the same fate

So you dont think Cotto cant follow the blueprint and do to Martinez what the tune up Murray did to Martinez:patrice:

Prime Cotto? Of course. But obviously hes a shell of his former self. Not to mention hes a smaller fighter than Martinez & Murray. And Murray was in his prime. Plus, we all gotta remember when Martinez foguht Murray it was in the rain pretty much, and his injuries sustained during the Chavez Jr fight didnt fully heal.

:ohhh: but I thought weight don't make fights

Did Ortiz weight help him vs Floyd, did Margarito weight help him vs Manny, weight aint force Manny to get hit 229 times.............:bryan:

Floyd draining Canelo is more of a humbling thing, Canelo ass actually tried to sabotage the Guererro card( and suceeded to a small degree) by refusing to fight on the undercard, when Mayweather built and hand walked Canelo, Canelo is a guy that won his 154 title at 150, this ginger's ego is outrageous, now Canelo is trying to slight Suliman after he had a paper title gift wrapped for his ass, fighting 140 pounders and shyt

He's not a shell of himself, people act like Trout beat the brakes off of him nikkas need to stop with that shyt, he was out worked in a ugly hard to score match. If Cotto is shot what is Canelo, I felt Cotto won more rounds than Canelo, and made Trout look foolish at times when he moved and boxed, Trout is just a ugly match, it shouldnt be held against he aint get dropped or stopped or nothing, dont be so quick to join the Cotto is shot bandwagon

South Paws were always his Achilles heel, he barely beat Clottley vanilla ass, that stance is his problem, which is why I dont understand why he fought a tall rangy, near lhw southpaw:mindblown:

Him with his advanced jab and Sergio's hands down style, will adjust quickly to Serg south paw stance, all Cotto have to do is not rush in , keep close, but stay out of distance, Martinez panics and darts in or out and can be timed fairly easily when fighters stay in his face but out of his punching range...............................

GGG, I have to see more but im favoring GGG, but I did see a shot Mosley boxing the shyt out of GGG in sparring, then his slurring ass shyt talking afterwards so I'm not 100% sold on him, his last fight was a statement but he picked a Martinez handpicked Eurobum to make that statement, I need to see one more fight before I could fully trust him over a elite fighter like Cotto

Cotto's demise began before the Trout fight bro. Cotto's prime was beat out of him in his first fight against Margarito. He was never the same. He barely beat Clottey, got smashed by Pacquiao, was detereorating against Margarito before it was stopped in their rematch, and then Floyd killed what was left. Trout just nailed the coffin shut.

I do agree tho that Canelo barely beat Trout, but he performed better obviously against Trout than Cotto did, as the compubox #s show.

I do feel Martinez beats Cotto in their primes cuz Martinez is bigger than Cotto, and more athletic. Cotto can be flat footed at times and his defense is spotty. Martinez has the quicker hands, quicker feet, more athleticism, and is the bigger fighter.

GGG is def on the come up. I wouldnt put too much importance on a sparring match, cuz we all know of the infamous Spadafora-Mayweather sparring session but we know Spadafora cant contend with Mayweather at all in a fight. But youre right- we gotta see more of GGG against the MW elite, and we def will. He'll fight in aug i think off network against some random contender to stay sharp, and then should fight the winner of the Geale-Barker fight in Nov. Hopefully he gets a Chavez Jr or Quillin in first quarter 2014, and then the epic showdown with Martinez happens in the fall of 2014. I literally cant wait to see how this all plays out.

We wont know if weight would have helped him because Floyd suckerpunched ortiz ass while he was trying to touch gloves...

In the Pac/marg fight all that extra weight Marg had over pac stopped him from getting ko'd early. .. had it not been for the weight that fight woulda never gone the distance so Margs punch total wouldn't have made it to 229..

Hey yall.. we have a new spin on why Flod has to "drain" Canelo. ... oh hes only trying to humble him :deadmanny:

You shot cause you lose to Pacquaio and Mayweather right, he still was very competitive in both matches, he was sweeping the first rounds of the Manny fight before he got reckless and Manny hit him with a flailing shot with his eyes closed, after he took a massive ass whipping and still came back to box look good and make manny look amateurish at times before the phantom stoppage, and he gave Mayweather all hell when he decided to get on his bicycle running and popping him with the occasional jab causing Mayweather to get lazy and sit on the ropes for counters

Was Cotto shot when Corley had him on Jelly legs for a round, or was he shot when Judah and Torres had him stunned and dancing, Cotto is what he is, a good fighter, with world class heart, he's never a walk over, and troubles whoever he faces, whether scathed or unscathed

The only former elite fighter that looks more finished than Cotto is Dawson.

Trout beat Cotto like 9 rds to 3 and it was never a close fight. I feel Cotto kept the rounds competitive, but he clearly lost most of them. He landed some good left hooks and jabs, but that was it. He ate more than his share of right hooks, uppercuts and jabs tho..

Cotto never stood a chance against Martinez. It's a bad style for him plus he's physically out-gunned.

Random....I'm looking at all these press tour pics with Floyd/Canelo and I swear only like a couple hundred nikkas came out for the one down here in Miami while thousands showed up everywhere else. :snoop: at Paul Spadafora showing up after Floyd n Canelo left and nobody knowing who he was so his crew had to shout out his record to random nikkas walking by.

5 dollar increase? the undercard for this shyt better be fire gotdammit

see, this is why I hate GBP. They should understand that keeping the price as low as possible will get more eyes/buys. Raising the price isnt going to bring in much more in revenue...especially in these economic times. I am not a cheap dude by any means...but I am a guy who is extremely high on value. If I dont see the value...I dont care how cheap it is.

 they better stack this damn undercard like DK used to do.

:mindblown: at anybody paying $65 to watch some shyt in SD.

lmao they aint cutting no checks for a underacrd, for a fight like this, gbp knows that they don't even need a undercard. fight has already been sold. 75, for a ppv :childplease: i never thought a ppv would ever get this high, i think i might head over to buffalo bill to watch this shyt.

but see...you dont have to cut big checks for undercards. I remember when DKP used to put 5 title fights on a card for like $40! Hell, he did a card with 4 championship fights on it as recently as 2 years ago with the Alexander-Matthysse undercard and that shyt was on HBO! (although Cloud-Mack was the only televised fight)

Remember the B-Hop vs Joppy card? 8 fights....all world championship? :damn:

that card featured....

Ruiz vs Rahman
Mayorga vs Spinks
Simms vs Garcia
Judah vs Rangel
Perez vs Machado
Braithwaite vs Pineda
Alvarez vs Burgos

:ooh: that was 8 title fights!!! including a Heavyweight title fight and a fight that crowned the first undisputed welterweight champion in 16 years! :gladbron:

:salute: to DK....he was the KING (no pun) of the stacked cards!

What should I do?

Website?? I don't know how to make a website, is it difficult?

I'd love to write about boxing, wish I could get my foot in the door, I'ma try and contact Dan Raf about it, he's in VA like me, let's see what he has to say...

No, not hard at all to do a website...I was a certified webmaster. I used to have my own boxing dvd website years ago. A boxing commentary website is different however and if you strive for perfection and high quality as I do....it is a full time job. (The reason why I havent done one yet.)

You can start off with a blog. Making some of your own original articles. I enjoy coming here and writing because it keeps me sharp...not to mention print journalism was my major.

If you have the time to dedicate to it then can do it though if you want to....absolutely. You da Gawd here and you know we will all support you in whatever you come thru with.

:salute:
A website would be a lot of work and take up most of your life if you were serious about making it successful.
An easier route would be could start off with a blog (Wordpress, Blogger etc) and just write as many articles/posts asa you can while also trying to create a loyal following and generate views of your work.
Didn't this site used to have an articles section too? Is it gone? Because you could have written here and gotten a decent amount of views too.

listen brehs.. on the real real real, this thread has a bunch of great guys that post great information that could get something going

of course its different to translate message board posting to a legit website.

forget about the "breaking news" business because espn and the established sites are always gonna have that on lock, until your hypothetical new site gets big

its the same i'm trying to do with american soccer in the near future. boxing is a pretty limited venue, so it's gonna be much quicker to get respectable if you're putting out the quality regularly, especially if you stick to it

but im curious to know what people in this thread think, as far as their boxing news habits. because i really dont care about the interviews, those little elie seckbach pieces (not that they arent good, but its just not my thing) and stuff like that. talking with boxers. i'm more interested in the analysis and articles type of things.

example: steve kim on maxboxing has2-3 articles a week. i'll read the analysis ones, the monday pieces. but the other one is usually an interview with a fighter or a manager about a fighter, and i'll be uninterested in those 9 times out of 10.

interviews and breaking news or some actual writing?

I go more for analysis and articles on the sport than interviews. Truthfully unless its Roger Mayweather being interviewed I don't really give two fukks about what anybody in boxing has to say.
