Have there been any other legendary fighters to walk away virtually unscathed like Mayweather?
Larry Holmes seemed fine. I remember watching old interviews with Sugar Ray Robinson & Joe Louis & they seemed fine too; just broke. And they fought during a more brutal era & were fortunate

nah bro sugar ray robinson and joe louis were not fine in retirement...joe louis went mentally ill (it ran in his family) and became a drug addict...sugar ray robinson descended into a brain fog...the documentaries do show that,.esp for sugar ray

larry is lucid but the recent interviews you can see he is starting to slow down

foreman though is a freak...he is super lucid...genetics and he was underrated defense

with the 4 kings...hearns fought too long, too many punchers, prolly went up too high..he is unfortunately punchy

duran is lucid..sugar ray leonard the same...hagler until he passed was lucid too

ive said it before...every fighter is different in terms of how much blunt force trauma they can take and absorb before things start giving....even with floyd's style...floyd had been fighting since he was a child..rule of thumb yes dont take punishment..doesnt mean training, sparring, as well as the fights dont add up

Outside of Ron Lyle and Holyfield, did Big George take any serious damage?

I still believe boxing is too established for Dana to implement his business model. He’s been wanting to jump in boxing for the last 15 years.

Despite his attacks on boxing, I think he enjoys boxing more than MMA, although he would never say publicly.

Colonel and his one man show with Top Rank. Bruh really would be there talking and telling us about the fight like he's having a conversation with the viewer. Always thought that was cool.
he was relegated at the end doing international broadcasts...by then i think he was rambling alot but he was harmless

he could prolly implement on young boxers or boxers lookin for any type of break but the established ones would tell him to get the fukk outta here

Yeah Louis was mentally ill later on in life & hooked on drugs. I don't think it was boxing that caused his mental illness like you said but it definitely didn't help. I forgot about SRR truthfully but you're definitely right. I just remembered seeing a documentary years ago & he was definitely damaged

Yeah, it can be unpredictable who gets brain damaged, as some fighters are luckier and seem fine despite the damage they take. Jake LaMotta had about 100 pro fights in the 40s and 50s and seemed sharp for the rest of his life. Floyd seems fine but it wouldn’t surprise me if he ends up having some brain damage. He didn’t wake up a defensive master, he had to work at it through a lot of practice (sparring) and has been boxing his whole life.

Best boxing documentary I’ve seen is After the Last Round. One of the neurologists says there a gene called the APOE4 gene that makes you more susceptible to brain damage (49:15)

I can’t recommend this documentary enough for boxing fans, although it’s not the easiest watch.

I think of sparring sort of similar to all hits football players may take in practice. They’re still taking jarring hits that shake their brains.

They will be greatly missed :to:
NEVER in a million years thought I'd say this, but people like Jake Paul and bare-knuckle will be needed to form some type of promotional banner.

Funny as during Covid, boxing was one of the main sports to go strong; same after 9/11, I think it was one of the first televised sporting events.

It will never die as many people will never get into the ground aspect of MMA.

USA, HBO, and Showtime-->I barely watch any of these anyway
