Bruce Carrington Inks Promotional Pact With Top Rank

Featherweight prospect Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington, the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials champion at 125 pounds, has signed a multi-year professional contract with Top Rank. Carrington (1-0) turned pro with a unanimous decision victory Oct. 9 on the Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder III undercard.

Carrington hails from Brownsville, Brooklyn, the same neighborhood that produced Mike Tyson, Zab Judah and Shannon Briggs. He will train with the noted Kay Koroma, who is known for working with the likes of Shakur Stevenson and Mikaela Mayer. Carrington's Top Rank debut is set for Saturday, Jan. 15 on the Joe Smith Jr.-Callum Johnson undercard at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y.

“Bruce Carrington is one of the great American amateurs of his generation, and he has the makeup and skills to be a future world champion,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “He stood out on the Fury-Wilder III card as someone whose amateur success will translate to the pro ranks."

Carrington said, “I’ve always admired how Top Rank develops young fighters into champions. I see myself having a long career, and I am excited to perform on ESPN’s platforms. I’ve always had a pro style, and after the Olympic Trials, I knew I was ready to take the next step.”

Carrington missed out on an opportunity to qualify for Tokyo after the American qualifiers were canceled in 2020 and 2021. It was an unfortunate break for the 24-year-old, who began boxing in the Brooklyn gyms at the age of 7. He watched up close as fellow New York City fighters like Danny Jacobs, Luis Collazo, and Curtis Stevens turned into top professionals.

Carrington, whose nickname “Shu Shu” means “the one who rises above all” in Egyptian, finally rose to the top of the amateur heap. As the eighth seed at the Olympic Trials, he defeated the likes of Duke Ragan, the Top Rank signee who earned a silver medal in Tokyo. In addition to Carrington, Top Rank has all five male Olympians from Tokyo under contract: Troy Isley (3-0, 2 KOs), Tiger Johnson (1-0, 1 KO), and silver medalists Ragan (4-0, 1 KO), Keyshawn Davis (3-0, 2 KOs) and Richard Torrez Jr. (pro debut).

Lol that’s a trash PPV.
Let’s hope Thurman figures out wether he wants to box anymore or not and stops with this semi-retired BS, I considered him a retired fighter tbh, it’s a pity how he lost his hunger. Can’t blame him, he doesn’t owe me with continuing but it’s a pity

Come on bruh

:russ:

Its not worth purchasing a PPV. It’s interesting in the sense I don’t know what to expect. None of these “marinating ass nyggas” are above an upset. Thurman should win, but you just never know with these guys nowadays. I don’t view the guys in this era as guys that win the fights that they’re suppose to win.

Canelo is probably the exception. I have no doubt he’s going to beat a handpicked opponent. Not sure about these other guys.

Manny was helpless and ineffective in an easy win by the Cuban boxer. That's reality. I've been a fan of Manny nearly 20 years. Just calling a spade a spade. Was Manny older, sure, but he was coming off taking the 0 from the previous unified WW champ.
If Manny was so easy and helpless then surely Ugas would've gotten a stoppage or at the least one knock down right? :heh: see the difference between your fantasy and reality?? .the reality is ugas won 115-113 116-114.. standing at a highguard for 12 rounds' never pushing the action or coming forward just waiting for a counter punch aint an asswhooping any way you slice it... yall use that term too losely

Remember when pbc was built on providing fights NOT on ppv? Thurman vs barrios on ppv is a fukking joke
Yeah all the PPVs are bullshyt. It's not just PBC either. Top Rank with their ESPN+ PPVs and DAZN with them doing PPVs on top of already having to subscribe to the network :scust: fukking horseshyt, I'm done with all the PPVs :snoop:

Wonder what the undercard will look like :jbhmm: Might as well put c00ngas vs Stankionis on it as the co-main :manny:

they haven't done a specific PPV yet. its still 9.99 for everything here

the only times they did a PPV for the plebes who didnt want to sign up for the monthly or yearly deal to watch Canelo's struggle fights on the app and rather pay 50 or so for a regular one time showing on regular TV PPV

Think the purpose of them at least going by eddies reasoning is that they want to be able to copromote big ppv fights such as tyson/fury etc. Right now they don't have that logic built in so they just lose out on the fights all together.

I told it how it went. Manny kept trying his usual tricks & traps, all were failing, Manny had no answer and Ugas cruised to a very easy victory Manny Pacquiao vs. Yordenis Ugas - CompuBox Punch Stats
MANNY threw 410 MORE punches, but landed 20 less. That's ownership. Did him super bad. Made him look like an amateur.

:francis: So you mean to tell me Ugas couldn't drop or stop a "helpless" "ametuer" that out threw him for over 400 punches??? :francis:you don't see how reality just don't match that cap ass bullshyt narritive??...
:francis: the reality is Pac and Ugas was back n forth for the 1st half of the fight then Manny age kicked in in the 2nd half and Ugas managed to do just enough to win rounds off a fading 42 yr old man that haven't fought for 2 years.. There was no masterclass :mjlol: There was no EASY victory.. Ugas did just enough for a 7-5 8-4 8-4 scorecard
