Yeah Canelo is that guy in the sport, but he seemed stagnant IMO.

Canelo is showing the formula now to a fighter increasing their profile, which is fighting more often and doing more media. It seems a little too simple, but it works.

Canelo has fought 3 times within the last 6 months and he seems bigger then ever. It may sound crazy, but fighters can increase their profile, by actually fighting.

I don’t understand how it go to the point, where fighting once or twice a year, and making appearances at the big fights, is sufficient nowadays.

right. Joshua increased the hell out of his profile from 2015 to about 2019 by being crazy active for a highly regarded heavyweight in THIS era. I’ve noticed that cats on the P4P list are typically the most active fighters

Hearn: Making Canelo-Plant Not Complicated; DAZN, FOX Will Make Huge Offers

ARLINGTON, Texas – Eddie Hearn doesn’t anticipate negotiations for a Canelo Alvarez-Caleb Plant fight to become complicated.

The British promoter expects Alvarez’s position as a fighter who isn’t contractually bound to a network or a streaming service to make matters easier. Hearn envisions DAZN, which has streamed Alvarez’s past six fights, and FOX, which has televised Plant’s past four fights, to make “huge” offers to land their super middleweight title unification fight.

Plant, the unbeaten IBF 168-pound champion, is the only opponent Alvarez wants to face next because he owns the title Alvarez needs to become the fully unified champion in the super middleweight division. Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) won the WBA and WBC belts by beating England’s Callum Smith on December 19 at Alamodome in San Antonio and added the WBO belt when he stopped another Brit, Billy Joe Saunders, after the eighth round Saturday night at AT&T Stadium.

The 28-year-old Plant (21-0, 12 KOs), of Ashland City, Tennessee, is affiliated with Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions. Hearn expects to deal mostly with Plant’s manager, Luis De Cubas Jr., during negotiations for a fight targeted to take place September 18.

“[It’s] not complicated,” Hearn said during a post-fight press conference early Sunday morning. “It’s the beauty of Canelo’s decision to be a network free agent. So, it stops politics, it stops anything from getting in the way. The numbers on DAZN tonight were absolutely astronomical. They’re gonna have to and they will make a huge offer for that fight. FOX will also make a huge offer for that fight.

“But he’s, you know, he’s free to make the fights that he wants to make, where he wants those fights to happen. So, for me, I think it’s a very straightforward process. I think that process should start immediately, and I don’t see any complications with his position.”

Hearn doesn’t think his own arrangement with Alvarez will become complex, either. Boxing’s biggest star in the United States and Matchroom Boxing’s managing director both have expressed a willingness to continue working together now that their two-fight contract has expired.

The 30-year-old Alvarez has been pleased with the results of the three fights Hearn’s company has promoted for him over the past five months. An enormous crowd of 73,126 – an indoor record for boxing in the U.S. – attended the Alvarez-Saunders card Saturday night.

“That’s a conversation obviously to be had with Saul,” Hearn said. “I mean, obviously, we had a two-fight deal. It’s been the most incredible experience. I think we’ve done a great job. We all work very well together. Hopefully, we can continue the relationship for a long time.”

Canelo scary as fukk, when he puts up that high guard and start walking you down with that subtle head movement it got be nerve wracking knowing what’s going to happen when you miss
:mjcry:

I don’t even think punches hurt that man. Outside of getting hurt by Cotto he gets rocked and keeps it moving.

they didn’t take heed when he went 24 straight rounds with GGG and didn’t get hurt once. That put the HUGE battery in his back that if he can take GGG beat punches, he can take anyones from 160 to 168

Canelo Alvarez Opens As -600 Favorite Versus Caleb Plant

Oddsmakers don’t figure Caleb Plant to end the incredible run enjoyed by Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, though still give him a better chance than his predecessors.

The unbeaten IBF super middleweight titlist has been inserted as a modest +400 underdog to dethrone Alvarez (56-1-2, 38KOs), the reigning WBC/WBA/WBO champ who has opened as a -600 favorite in such a fight according to BetOnline.ag. Demand has increased for such a showdown in the immediate aftermath of Alvarez’s 8th round stoppage of Billy Joe Saunders to unify three titles Saturday evening at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Alvarez entered the ring as a -650 betting favorite, bet down from -800 as punters took a risk on Saunders who was arrived on fight night as a +475 underdog according to William Hill Sportsbook. Alvarez defended his WBA/WBC titles for the second time while claiming the WBO belt that Saunders (30-1, 14KOs) held since May 2019.

A showdown with Plant (21-0, 12KOs) would represent the opportunity to crown the division’s first-ever undisputed champion in the three- or four-belt era. Alvarez became just the second super middleweight in history to own three belts, joining Hall-of-Fame former two-division champ Joe Calzaghe who also held the WBC/WBA/WBO belt as well as the lineal championship following his Nov. 2007 win over then-fellow unbeaten titlist Mikkel Kessler.

Plant has held the IBF title since claiming a 12-round unanimous decision win over Jose Uzcategui in Jan. 2019, the lone time in his pro career that he has entered the ring as the betting underdog (+161 by fight night). The Ashland City, Tennessee native—who now fights out of Las Vegas—has made three successful title defenses, including a 12-round shutout over former titlist Caleb Plant this past January in Los Angeles.

Alvarez has won major titles in four divisions and is widely regarded as the sport’s pound-for-pound king. The boxing superstar from Guadalaraja, Mexico became the unified WBC/WBA super middleweight champ following a 12-round win over Callum Smith last December at Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Alvarez was a -700 favorite by the opening bell, while Liverpool’s Smith was a +500 underdog despite entering as an unbeaten long-reigning titlist.

Talks between Alvarez and Plant have yet to resume following serious conversation in late 2020. Alvarez and promoter Eddie Hearn are expected to reach out to representatives at Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) in hopes of securing such a fight in time for Mexican Independence Day in September.

That's 2 Golden Boy fighters that were number 1 to Andrade and didn't fight him. When he fights that unknown 9-0 Kazakh because Munguia avoided an easy to make in house fight, I don't wanna hear "He's fighting unknowns" when his mandatory has less than 10 fights:mjlol:

That and Reynoso forcing him up to 168.

His power at that weight is scary.
