Tonight’s main event has put me in mind of a hypothetical match up, and I have to admit, I’m torn. So let me consult my fellow Ring Brehs: Prime Canelo vs Prime Ward at 168 - who you got?

Ooooh tough one. Thing is ward is also strong as hell and very good at keeping people off balance. He had the tools to cause major issues. Plus his natural size :jbhmm:
Nelo has handspeed and defense
Will be difficult for nelo.

If you would've asked me a year or two ago, I would have said SOG for sure. He was strong, crafty, incredibly skilled and able to make adjustments really quickly - I think he is the most criminally underrated boxer of the modern era (but that's a whole other conversation). But over the last 3-4 fights Nelo just seems to have hit another level, like really peaked, which makes it hard for me to pick against him. I've honestly been going back and forth with this for the last hour lol

i take Ward

i know Ward ain't hurting for money but i always thought Ward should have came out of retirement and fought Canelo

it would have been a legacy fight for both fighters

How about can Canelo beat a 37 year old Ward today..Canelo is dope but if he couldn’t beat a 36 year old well beyond his prime on verge of retirement mayweather at 23. Lost every round. 23 year old Mayweather beat Diego Corrales who he (Mayweather) was much better than himself at 36 lol. In no way do I see Canelo now beating that Mayweather (23). Def not a 30 year old Mayweather. Every opponent he faced that also faced Mayweather was much older than when Floyd fought them in their actual primes ir atleast closer to it. So its funny when we try to say Canelo true prime is unstoppable and forget the biggest names he has are past prime Cotto, past prime Mosley and so on and so on. So how much better is he really? I mean shyt he didn’t face GGG until he was 36.

So def no way in hell he beating a prime Ward, I got Floyd Mayweather over Ward... but his technical prowess and ring IQ is just much higher than Canelo and closer to Floyd’s..And he is stronger than Floyd Canelo is a future great, but it’s levels to this shyt. He still competing for best Mexican boxer with the great Julio Chavez. Ward and Mayweather are Goat status fighters.

the worst part that’s racist as fukk amd the double standard in boxing is that when Floyd faced Oscar, they said he waited until Oscar got old and only beat him because of that. De la Hoya was 34 at the time. But when the black fighter who is even older at 36, it’s o well Canelo was too young. No way in hell they would give Mayweather that excuse if he lost

:scust:This forum has a huge problem with inserting Floyd into every example to get their point across. It’s always a reach, and it shows these fans limitation.

in the main fight thread yesterday, you point out that Canelo was getting outboxed at times, you got a nygga talking about “well Floyd had trouble with Augustus.” Why is Floyd even being mentioned here?

You could have a discussion on anything boxing related and some bum will come in and say “well Floyd this, or Floyd that.”

Floyd is a horrible example to make points with because he’s anomaly. None of these nyggas are Floyd.

As soon as Canelo/Plant is official, someone is going to come in that thread and randomly say “well Floyd was never undisputed.” Who gives a shyt? Why is Floyd being mentioned?

Everything can’t be compared to Floyd. His career is his career.
