Although WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather recently stated that he had been stripped of his WBA super welterweight “super” title, that appears to not be the case. Mayweather is still listed as super champion in the new WBA ratings released today.

Meanwhile, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez was named WBA boxer of the month, but did not receive the “super champion” status the WBA created especially for champions who hold the title of two or more organizations recognized by the WBA. Guillermo Rigondeaux, who unified the WBA and WBO titles against Nonito Donaire, also did not receive super champion status. Both are listed as “unified” champions along with WBA/WBO flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada.

WBA super champions include Wladimir Klitschko, Andre Ward, Floyd Mayweather, Danny Garcia, Chris John, Anselmo Moreno and Roman Gonzalez. Of that group only Klitschko and Garcia currently hold belts from multiple organizations.

hahha So your basically admitting Floyds 44-0 career is based off cherry picks and how much he can make fighting less risky opposition.

Then you try to flip it and say "See! Look! Floyds the best he's undfeated! 44-0! No one can challenge him!"

And there was PLENTY of fighters he avoided throughout his career, that couldve been a huge challenge for him (Margarito, PRIME Cotto, Paul Williams, Pacman, etc...).

If he hadn't retired so many times and took fake vacations like a punk coward.

But of course your gonna look the other way and say it was all business decisions. Okay riiiiiight............
Not his entire career. And I'm not excusing him for making it about $ first. I'm just explaining his main focus and motivation. I wish he would've fought Martinez and Pac already. I would've loved to see him fight Paul Williams before he got :deadmanny: But he doesn't fight so some poster on TheColi can give him props for challenging himself. And thats because if he loses to Paul Williams, prime Cotto, or Pac, no one will care about him as much and he won't make $32 mil a fight.

And at this moment, after being careful since fighting De La Hoya, he's the best fighter around. There was a legit question about whether he could beat Martinez or Pac or whoever at one point. But he doesn't have to be as careful now, because Danny Garcia, Timothy Bradley, Matthysse, Khan, Canelo, etc aren't legit threats like those other guys in the past. He waited enough of those elite fighters out and now he's King of the Hill. His skill set trumps theirs. Who's the dangerous guy he's ducking now?

WBA Executive Vice President Gilberto Jesus Mendoza has updated Fightnews.com on the status of the super welterweight division. “Floyd (Mayweather) has never been stripped of the title of WBA super champion. This condition is not automatic with unification. We refer to rule #6 definitions, specifically for unified champions, and rule #18 which establishes the powers of the presidency to create these super championships.”

According to Mendoza, Mayweather asked special permission to maintain his status and the Alvarez-Trout was approved under special conditions that the WBA will explain later. More to come…

the money would be good but Pac needs to go on a :demonic: tear. the luster is not the same as when Pac hadnt officially lost in years. I dont remember the top two consensus P4P fighters ever having a chance to face off in the same weight class. much less the two top draws in the sport.

Damn, Alvarado getting done dirty :russ:

Also, I see Pac turning Rios in circles all night. Rios seems tough so maybe not a stoppage but a dominant UD

Avlarados manager said he's out for the year because of a messed up right hand. So this is most likely why it's Rios next.
