Chavez Jr. vs. Masseroni Pushed Back To November 27
By Miguel Rivera

Published On Mon Nov 16, 2020, 07:15 PM EST

Former WBC world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. confirmed on Monday that his fight against Argentine Nicolas Masseroni will now take place next Friday, November 27, in the same capital of Sinaloa, after initially being scheduled for this coming Saturday, November 21.

The son of a legend explained that one of the reasons that his fight was delayed was to allow his opponent to have additional time to make the light heavyweight limit.

Chavez Jr. also reported that the event will not take place in the gym he is building, but in the "Juan S. Millán" Sports Center in the Revolution Park, where the Mexican boxer incidentally had his first fight as a professional in 2003.

Chávez thanked the municipal president Jesús Estrada Ferreiro for facilitating the event.

In addition, another reason for changing the venue is to have a greater capacity for fans.

He added that the event will take into account all of the necessary health measures for COVID-19, with only around 600 fans being allowed to attend.

Chavez Jr. continued training in Culiacán, after losing a shock decision to Mario Cazares in September in Tijuana.

He's looking to halt a two-fight losing streak, as he suffered a stoppage defeat at the hands of Daniel Jacobs in December of last year.

His opponent, Masseroni, has a 19-1 record and all of his victories have been defined by knockout.

A press conference is scheduled for this Wednesday in Culiacán, where Chávez Jr. will announce the details of the event and answer questions from reporters.

Undefeated Juan Luis Aldana will fight on the card , as well as Karen Rubio, both hailing from the capital of Sinaloa.

He must have left Al on bad terms, considering the slop they've been throwing out there on these PBC HW cards they could use another HW on the roster and to fill Efe's departure.
