I was watching Callum Smith highlights last night. Why do so few fighters utilize combination punching nowadays? They just try to throw the perfect shot or perfect counter and never follow it up with anything. Their pacing is also much slower. I'd love for combination punching to make a come back. I think Terrence Crawford is the best combination puncher in the game, followed very closely by Canelo Alvarez. With Crawford you just never know where the next punch is going.
Me and somebody else talk about this all the time but especially with bigger fighters. Back in the day dudes would throw 4 and 5 punch combinations so effortlessly now it’s like pulling teeth.

See Wilder vs Fury 1

Not even gonna go there, even though that fight is kind of a perfect example of that, regardless what happened in the rematch Fury never landed a single meaningful impactful punch in the first fight, while Wilder knocked him down twice and I believe ended up landing more punches. Charlo-Harrison 1 is another example of it although Harrison landed better punches on Charlo than Fury did on Wilder.

I don't know I just don't believe in rewarding fighters for inactivity, even if they are boxing nicely. Floyd and Sweet Pea were defensive fighters, but they always let their hands go and would pepper you with punches the whole time, now a days people think it's good enough to dance around and make an opponent miss a few punches while not letting your hands go and throwing back in exchange. If you taking 2 or 3 punches to land one, that one punch you land better be good otherwise :camby:.

it could be they are more cognizant of lack of stamina/conditioning...wlad used to be a pretty good combination puncher for a big guy but if a dude could take his punches (purrity, brewster), then he was in trouble

then usyk is in the wings..that is if he doesnt suffer the CW to HW curse

I don't see Usyk beating Joshua or Fury right now, I need to see Usyk against a real live body at HW before he should jump in there with one of them. Usyk vs Joseph Parker would be a good fight to see where he really is.

me too..right now the only evidence that usyk has potential to handle a bigger heavy you have to go back to that WSB fight he had with Joe Joyce

chisora is at least a good start

By Random Hits

Published On Fri Jul 24, 2020, 04:10 PM EST

Matchroom Boxing will live stream Srisaket Sor Rungvisai’s ring return against Amnat Ruenroeng on Saturday August 1st.

Ahead of our Fight Camp opener, the ten round contest from Thailand will go out across Matchroom’s YouTube channel.

Fans around the world (excluding in Thailand, Caribbean and Latin America) will be able to watch from approx 9.45am (BST) on fight day.

Rungvisai boasts two impressive victories over Roman Gonzalez in recent years, plus two close fights against Juan Francisco Estrada which went one apiece.

Ruenroeng, a former IBF World Champion, looks to make it three wins on the bounce and put his name firmly back into title contention.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said: "As if August 1st couldn't get any bigger with the launch of Matchroom Fight Camp, the return of former WBC Super-Flyweight World Champion Rungvisai against former IBF 112lbs ruler Ruenroeng will now be shown live on the Matchroom YouTube channel.

"It's a great little warm-up at 8.45 in the morning for what will be a very exciting day for the world of boxing. Next Saturday is all about the return of boxing. Fight fans will get a chance to watch a pound-for-pound star in Rungvisai before enjoying the opening night of Fight Camp.

"Juan Francisco Estrada will fight 'Chocolatito' next, we're in the process of trying to make that fight, probably for October time in America. The winner of that fight will face Sor Rungvisai providing he gets through on the 1st. It's a great little run of fights for those three and the division itself. We're so lucky to represent those three great fighters."

GBP can be criticized for how hard is for them to fight a good opponent but Canelo is like the only dude who fights GGG 2X, Kovalev at 175 and Jacobs at 168 in 4 of hig last 5 fights but gets the criticism that he avoids risk.
Get a grip breh

I just now saw this, I'll give Cinnamon the GGG fights, but Jacobs and Kovalev :camby:.

Charlo and Andrade were right there for him to fight on both occasions. Could have potentially took 2 zeroes. Them fights were weak aa hell bruh.
