So what can we as Coli members do together? Are people still trying to do that Coli News Network thing or what?

I have a Mass Communications/Journalism degree and worked at a newspaper for 5 years as a reporter. My energy is mainly focused toward my new dream of breaking into TV writing/standup, but I can help lend some of my experience to the news network thing.

I think it's important that we develop a serious think tank first. We can combine our experiences and ideas and build. Discussions on things like the network can be part of that think tank, in addition to starting things in our cities and online and reporting back, plus helping each other in the process.

Opportunity is there in 2014 for anybody trying to get it.

Not sure yet. Were just getting our money together. But I just hit them up and explained group economics and they were immediately interested. Its like people didn't know it was possible to work with each other. White folks got this individual goal mentality. But we operate as a group in everything but economically. So it only took a couple hours to have people hop on the group economics wave. When all the plannings done I'll post it here and we can all link our stuff together. This site is perfect for reaching a lot of people and investing. I just hope these people are actually black...

Good shyt. And my thoughts exactly. There's money to be made and this site can be a hotbed for networking. My vision is to be able to travel to any major city in this country and be able to chop it up with ideas and take care of each other. shyt, I'd like to be able to open my phone and holla at brothers and sisters in Africa and Europe. There's money to be made and by extending a hand to a brother we also protect and help ourselves.

We need to produce. Food is an obvious one. My buddy wants a food truck and we can grow some of the veggies for it. I think food should be the basis, because it's the most essential. House hold item's we use everyday.

Basically a group of people with the same focus sharing ideas and building the community. Rather than loose conversation, we would meet or converse regularly and determine how to tackle these specific issues. For example let's say from this thread we worked hard to push the Sept. 8 boycott amongst our social and personal networks.

Since we're dedicated to sharing ideas and playing the long game, we'd take it a step further after the boycott and analyze the stock market and other info to see what worked and what didn't. We could share ideas and theories with various other channels to figure out a next step, all while also planning food co-ops, fundraisers, gun clubs, meetings and whatnot in our areas and refining them and putting people in touch with people throughout the country, etc.

On the Coli alone, there's no reason why we can't let this organized thought and momentum turn into raising money and combining our resources to do whatever what wanted. Like, let's say I meet up with 5 LA brehs and we're talking about the lack of black grocery stores. OK, we don't have black grocery stores, but we can start growing our own food. We don't have land yet, but one of us has a big back yard, so we pool our money and tend to those crops. We can sell at the Farmer's Markets, while spreading the word to other black people in the city who can start their own co-op, to the point that we can buy land or open our own grocery stores. But it all started with combining the thoughts and ideas.

As blacks in America, we mainly have individual personalities that tell us what we should or could do. That's valuable, but we need consistent thought and action among each other at all times, because that's the only way we can grow. Dude in this thread told me I should drop some links in the OP and now it looks better and more welcoming and is fostering more conversation. His one thought sparked something in my brain that wasn't originally there and helped me help the overall cause. Now that's a small example, but imagine if we collaborated like that all the time about everything, especially the important things. Steel sharpens steel.

Ok I get it now, you want to focus on one particular way of uplifting our people and black business one issue at a time.

I think a good first step is for us to get used to dealing with each other on a personal basis also. We can and should keep posting articles, information and video, but to build a community we need to network. That means learn what each other do for a living, want to do for a living, study or are good at. That way we can take the next steps toward practical action and pooling our resources.

For sensitive information we can go to PMs, e-mails and other avenues also, but I def want to keep this thread live to bring more of us in the fold.

Yeah and by having a consortium of like minded people, we can be doing it all at the same time. I might be growing food while other brehs are building useful apps and websites, while others are trying to close on a rental property and others are volunteering teaching kids how to read.

What blacks own or control anything of real significance? You go to black owned store, his products are not owned and produced by him, yall still supporting "the system". Why don't we have more black teachers, doctors, lawyers, policeman, etc. You claim they want to destroy your community, you police your own people. Teach your own people. Make doctors visits affordable for your people.
