Hated the courtroom scene at the end. So, in real life...no one is flipping back on 7 years and blowing it up to get 87 in the courtroom. It took me out the scene.

Everything in the Breaking Bad universe wouldn't possibly happen in real life.

That said, you completely misunderstood the whole point in the character arcs of Jimmy to Saul back to Jimmy. There are two times where Jimmy was first disbarred and 2nd in hiding as Gene where he was miserable in not doing what he was. Him as being Saul gave him LIFE. However, being Saul got him to lose everything who he cared about, and Kim was the last straw. He had NOTHING out there. It's that realization that of either being in PRISON & happen to be finally FREE in being just Jimmy or being FREE but still feel like he's in prison like he was when he was Gene.

That's a Walt move. Saul was perfectly fine taking the plea until he decided to take the heat off Kim.
Not just Kim, but that was his Time Machine. They showed the book in episode 1 of the final season and they showed it again in Chuck's house in the series finale. He finally undid some of his errors and mistakes to the best of his ability. Everyone was clowning him for the shallow things that he would do with a time machine, and he finally did something more noble when given a chance. He killed off the toxic persona of his, made amends for what he did to Chuck, and reclaimed his namesake.

Kim was also an inspiration for what he did, because he ultimately respected that she left and took ownership over what she did (and he said as much in the finale).

Yep.

This ending was almost the opposite of what I remember some people were predicting for Walt or even Tony Soprano. People were predicting they might not "die" but would end up in prison with nobody which was sort of a "death" of their spirit.

Jimmy ended up in prison but he has self-respect, the respect of the criminals in New Mexico that he helped as a lawyer, and he was the respect of Kim again, and possibly even a rekindling of their flame. That last part is definitely open to interpretation on whether or not she visits him again, but the colorized flame of the lighter and their cigarette was clearly symbolic that there's still a love and passion there...even if they can't really be together again.

He's gonna die in prison, but he has as much as anyone in his shoes could have given the circumstances.

And yeah...I'm not sure why realism is such a big deal for some folks. As @hex has pointed out years ago on here, realism has never been deemed an essential characteristic of good fiction. A universe just needs to establish how it works and stick to it, and BrBa, El Camino, and BCS all did that.

lets say he takes the 7 year deal

he gets out, gets paid millions to write a tell all book, gets paid millions for a docu series, and then gets paid millions for the inevitable biopic

he could have easily went out on top

:wow:

i think with the time machine theme throughout the finale, he realizes and accepts he can't change the things he's done. but what he can do is finally find peace with that and go back to being jimmy. no more saul goodman.

chuck, howard...the regret he's been carrying for what he did to them and how they ended up...nothing he can do. but there was one person left he has his regrets about. the only person left, the love of his live. saul goodman couldn't help her but jimmy could. he had one last chance to help kim. and he did.

i'm gonna miss this show. :mjcry:

And live an unhappy life. I truly believe y'all did not GET this series at all. Jimmy was living an UNHAPPY and unsatisfying life. Even when he was PEAK SAUL GOODMAN with millions and was fuccking random prostitutes and all of that, he felt EMPTY inside.

The whole TIME MACHINE and his lame ideas of what he would've done noted how lost he was and THAT'S what y'all wished for? To continue to live a life that left him empty inside? The court scene was HIS TIME MACHINE. To unto and address everything that he was both criminally involved and that he has regrets in doing. He was finally FREE, regardless of him going to prison.

He's probably at his happiest doing time where he is LOVED and RESPECTED by the inmates than he would've been outside all alone.

Good ending. They didn't overshoot.

I think now Kim is there for him forever, which is all he wanted in the first place. He became a lawyer for her, he became a criminal because she enabled it, he confessed for her.

You listen to Kim's reactions about her so called new boyfriend. She could care less.

wonder how much business BCS brought them
they got me thinking of swinging by the mall one of these days and grabbing some.:russ:

There's a japanese wrestler that was doing a tour here in the US for this year, he just went back to Japan, and he was a big fan of cinnabon.

So they definitely been getting plenty of marketing.

He would've been unhappy though. He was never really happy when he was Saul at all. Not really. He may have had fun here and there, and he had hedonistic moments of pleasure ( :dame: ) but overall the persona of Saul was something Jimmy developed as a means of coping with his trauma. He started growing into Saul after the death of Chuck, and Kim was the only thing left from him going full on Saul. When Kim left, he had nothing left, and he went full on Saul Goodman in order to mask the pain he was in.

He didn't actually only want millions, as evidence in the flashback scenes. It seemed like that's all he wanted, and that may have been what Mike and Walt thought, but Jimmy was actually deeper than that.

Him taking the 7 year deal would've undercut his entire character arc.

Yesss. All this. Especially the bolded. The first 2 flashbacks last night illustrated how dumb and surface-level he was thinking re: the time machine (or maybe it's more accurate to say emotionally stunted or shelled up and not vulnerable or honest with himself).

To see so many people wishing that he had just stayed on the surface level "I want millions of dollars" type ending seems crazy to me. Saul had millions of dollars and he wasn't happy when he had it. Why would he be happier with even less money when he's older and with no one in his life that loves him or cares about him?
