That figurine is a subtle reminder how far Jimmy has fallen.

Remember in season 1 when that woman had all those Hummel figurines and Jimmy helped her plan her estate after she died....he could've robbed her blind but did the right thing. Now in this ep you see him looking at the Hummel figurine and he says "yeah, I knew someone that collected these" which makes it seem like he was sad for a sec but all he wanted to do was steal it.

Fred.
It's not really falling per se. Jimmy has always been a scumbag but he made a real effort to change because of the second chance Chuck gave him. With Chuck not here to call Jimmy out on his bullshyt, he's gonna revert back to his old ways.

I meant falling in terms of how he's dealing with a similar situation.

He could've scammed the old lady easy, and didn't. I'm thinking once he seen that Hummel figure in the office this ep he at least had an inkling of an idea to torpedo his own job interview.

I think he's reverting because of what Chuck said, the last conversation they had. About how he's a bad person and will always hurt people around him, so why try to be good?

Come to think of.. ....The Twins (Cousins) ...Is this the first time the Cousins have ever spoke either on here or Breaking Bad? I can't remember.

One of them spoke a couple lines of Spanish in "Breaking Bad". Specifically when he went to get the axe in the parking lot ("no, too easy") to kill Hank.

But yeah....they aren't big on words.

This show artistically does nothing.

The Seinfeld of Dramas
:ld:

I previously called The Sims of Television. They've made a drama based around things the average person dreads. Job interviews. Hospital visits. Estate settlements :dead:

And there's no suspense around tio because we all know how he ends up. Same with the main character. We really just don't know about nacho and Kim.

Though I love the ending with Gus Fring.

I'm very curious what's in that letter. I somehow don't think it is another "screw you" message, but actually an apology or a revelation of his (Chuck's) love for Jimmy. I'm sure we'll find out eventually. I think Kim was completely wrong to not give Jimmy his money or letter. I think her intentions were good, but they belong to Jimmy. He needs to decide what to with them. Jimmy saw the electric crap in the backyard. Deep down he knew what happened. He wasn't ready to say the words or face what happened.

The only truly plot driven "prestige drama" is Breaking Bad and The Shield, mostly everything else is character based

You mean you wasn't a fan of the episode about the Columbus Day parade....or the one where Jon Farveau's assistant stole Chris's movie idea?

I was being somewhat facetious. I still find it pretty compelling and it still arguably the most well-made show on TV. I still find it someone inessential in the grand scheme of things and I just don't think prequels really work all the way in general.

The opening minutes of this season to me with Gene were way more compelling than what we've gotten so far. Now that would be a suspense filled show

And all it took for 4 years of absolutely nothing happening

Did they recently hire a new show runner or something?

This isn't really the type of show where you expect balls to the wall action of anything, nor any overnight expectation. It is all about character development and the de-evolution of Jimmy's soul as he's transforming fully into Saul. And each season is him falling deeper into the rabbit hole. Hell, even the intro recap of this episode sounds dark when in the past was more upbeat. It seamlessly devolved into now Breaking Bad mode whereas in the beginning it was light and sometimes goofy as Jimmy was getting into shananigans, but all of that have a downward domino effect. So, from a book cover perspective, but A LOT have. To see how Jimmy and Mike were at the very beginning of the season to where they're at now is almost nearly night and day.
