Luffy is really going to have to do something about gear 4. He is going to have to modify it if he wants to fight the Yonkou
He will have to get to a point where he can use it without the fallout like Gear 2 and 3 after the timeskip. Plus he hasn't awakened his Devil Fruit ability either.
At least we know Big Mom's thundercloud will be useless to Luffy already, and like @KOOL-AID said Big Mom at least had to use armor Haki to tank the G4 punch. It's not much but if she tanked that without even using Haki it would've been over.

Kinda random btw but when the Tamatebako almost fell in the hands of CP0 I kinda hoped we would get a running joke where the box would keep changing hands every couple arcs while constantly teasing that someone is about to open it, and it isn't opened years later into the story when it ends up back at Fishman Island or something.
