Word. To say we don't need more movies about our history would also say we don't need more war movies or more westerns
How bout movies about black uprising. Where nikkas was busting back like the Haitian slave revolution, or ancient African freedom, or African folklore and urban tales, myths and legends, something you know we haven't seen about black people. that whole kumbaya we shall overcome thing is played to me breh. Our history is more than the 400 to 500 hundred years of slavery followed by civil right struggles still going on today. Unless we get movies that show us in the position of power they can keep it breh that's all I'm saying. How can I forget about the civil right struggle and slavery when I am reminded of it every day. Saving private ryan these nikkas were at war busting back, a MLK movie these nikkas are marching and getting beat down :francis:

While I am very appreciative of al the works he did for our people, nor am I ever gone forget I want to see more movies that showcase us at our glory and not at out feet, and we need to make those movies ourselves.

But to say "they were getting beat down and marching" is to completely miss the intelligence behind everything. King was not only a preacher, but a strategist and a brilliant politician, which is something Selma highlights above all. There's a reason he went with a non violent approach, aside from just his belief, but an actual political reason. It's a movie that not only says "hey, look at what these people did" but it also shows a correct and proper way to organize, demonstrate, lead, and the factors that are involved for true change, not just getting people excited and angry. I understand what you're saying but there's an intricacy to a story like Selma that hasn't been told before

So how many of these films have deal with mental illness? We know the stereotype (which has some truth) that the Oscar usually nominate films about being retarded or somebody who's crazy.

The Black Community
pretty yawn worthy.

NPH had a few good jokes and the birdman whiplash reference was dope

but yea it was too long

and really only the 3 big categories had me yelling at my TV

director: YESSSSSSSS! :blessed:

actor: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :to:

Picture :yusss :lawd:
Pretty good summary. it really was poorly planned and too long; NPH was good, but he was lost in all the songs and tributes and awards for everything

People online are saying "Boyhood" got robbed cause nobody put more effort into a film since it was shot over 12 years.

i read that even though it was 12 years they only filmed 30 days total..same as birdman :sas2:

Chrissy looks like an alien to me
she's always been wack to me..something aint right with her face. looks like a ton of bad surgery or something

You didn't like Redmayne winning? Keaton didnt deserve it imo, Birdman was awarded heavy in the end.

NPH just seemed out of his element and seemed like he'd rather be hosting the Tony's. None of the musical acts were interesting. Not a lot of controversy...just boring.

Meh that's now how I saw it but that's cool whatever works for whomever. I was looking more at the political side of it but if that's how someone else wants to take it, who am I to argue?

I think the sentiment was there and her heart was in the right place, but...her wording could have been leagues better. lol.

I can't even fault the people going in on her, tbh.
