breh chris rock Top Five just came out a few months ago and barely did 25 mil domestic

he wrote and directed it and last i checked he's black :mjpls:

And it was promoted hard as hell too but again we didn't go see it. One of the greatest comedians ever, writes and directs his own movie starring black people and what do we do? Not show up to see it. Let it had been Tyler perry's top five with madea on the poster and it would've killed

Low budget Comedy, didn't get a lot of screens. 25 Million is great for the screens it got. There levels to this. When you get less then 1,000 screens your movie isn't getting out there like the Big Boys. Chris should be proud what he did with that flick. I never said there weren't any Black Directors and Writers. Obviously "Selma" has a Black Director and writer. I said we need more if we are going to have our stories told and have us represented. It's ok to actually more Black Director's and writers than you can count on one hand.

And that's exactly the wrong attitude to have. It's a movie about freaking Martin Luther King Jr. based on a true event and extremely relevant. It ain't "black struggle" it's history, it's real, it's powerful and it's politics.
Breh there is a thousand and one MLK movies and documentaries, it's just been done. Unless there is a black movie that deviates from the usual tyler perry b/s or slave/civil rights struggle I ain't going to see it. I want diversity breh which is why while you hated it I went to see after earth to support black sci fi:francis:

i only caught like the last 45 minutes of this show, right around the part when gaga was singin' for julie andrews which was gaga's best performance ever. i like this new image gaga goin' for now. good to see she not relyin' on gimmicks to sell her music and actually lettin' her talent speak for itself :leon:

but the best thing bout the whole damn show was fine ass chrissy teigen and her sexy ass outfit. this woman is hands down, officially my new number 1 crush. i been feelin' her for a minute but my lawd :mjcry:

I can understand that but I only want to support something good. Regardless of the number of documentaries about it or made for tv movies it's still a big Hollywood movie specifically about the politics it takes to get legislation passed and it's highly relevant

I understand both sides. On the 1 side we have more than enough of these types of movies where we shouldn't need another to show our history, on the other side we have way too many black folks who want to forget history so they won't even check for these past movies. We need these movies to be made because Amerikka wants us to act like the past never happened, that's why all these civil rights movies never get replayed on anything but black channels yet Saving Private Ryan or Forest Gump get played on every channel.

Word. To say we don't need more movies about our history would also say we don't need more war movies or more westerns
