NBC was crowning him the fastest man on earth which the 200m winner never is crowned and that was because a non american Donovan Bailey won the 100m gold and they didnt want a non american at the Atlanta games being called fastest man on earth...

The entire reason the 97 race was set up between them is completely fueled by NBC's desire to claim MJ as the fastest man on earth and of course he got smoked in the head to head race and that blunder was put to rest for good.

USA would've won gold if they ran the same team from the heats, they ran 37.47. Canada, SA, GBR ran the same teams throughout. Multiple teams switch runners out and have no issue. USA looks like they practice the relay for 10 minutes after their workouts. Team might have some ego issues through the years thats contributing to it, or coaches aint coaching shyt.
