Steve who...?

Edit: Oh Nevermind :russ: :whew:

You can't blame nobody but Texas for bad hiring. And don't let what he's done recently blind you, Mack was most definitely on that elite tier of coaches in the 2000s with Pete, Urban, Tressel, Stoops, Etc.

What held him back was not being able to beat Oklahoma until 05. That one L completely ruined the 04 season and held them back from the big 12 south title -> Big 12 Title -> Getting spanked by USC in Miami :lolbron:

Texas also got fuccked in 08 along with us

And no telling how that game goes vs Bama in 09 if Colt doesn't get hurt.
steve spurrier and I don’t blame nobody but that bum ass AD Mack hit the jackpot with Vince and Colt before and after that he was just aight

Mack was routinely one game away. A few things did him in the end.

1. Lazy recruiting after winning the title in 05. He wasn't called Coach February for no reason, only offered kids if they agreed to commit and largely became dependent on the Texas recruiting sites to scout for him.

2. The idiotic decision to go from a spread offense to a ground and pound offense after losing to Bama in 09.

3. Deciding he only wanted good kids from a good home after the Robert Joseph/Andre Jones incident.

How was no. 2 idiotic? Thats what Bama was dominating with.

They didn’t really switch up until Lane came in years later

Unless you mean cause it was the style of play in the Big 12 then yeah I’d agree

Exactly bro he was incredibly flawed literally let AP go to a rival school for no reason missed out on Andrew luck and RG3 who he didn’t even offer he got lucky with colt there’s no way Texas should ever go without a competent qb

Have a team full of players recruited to run the spread and switch to an offense they are ill suited for, what could go wrong. :skip:

Nothing was wrong with our system. We "should" have went to the title game in back to back years. And fully healthy I think we could have won both.
