Don't remember if he was eating due to Madoff, I didn't necessarily hear his name tied to it. Figure as much vetting as they do they would have come up with something if he was linked to him.

Tio Steve had nothing to do with Madoff. Cohen had an insider trading issue and 1.8 billion in penalties from the SEC.

Cohen paid his debt to society and was never criminally charged

Definitely gotta stop calling Soto generational

Saw that yesterday and the hate was strong. If Soto isn't generational, Larry definitely isn't.

Larry's averaged an ops+ of 141 per season. Soto is averaging 160. Larry has a .401 average for his on base. Soto's average is .421.

If you wanna say Dominican Ted Williams is overpaid that's cool, but Ted Turner and Bobby Cox would have cut Larry to sign Juan Soto

Edit: wasn't Larry's hating ass also talking shyt about Acuña Jr as well back in the day?

A Mets fan slandering Chipper Jones. How shocking! Chipper hit .300 from both sides of the plate.

For as long as I can remember, the mantra was that pitching was about location and changing speeds.

Not just SPEED.
CHANGING speed.

Maybe Randy Johnson was an outlier because he threw hard seemingly all the time.
But Maddux, Pedro...those guys could locate and change speeds. With Pedro specifically he could hit you with 97 high and tight. But he also had a famous changeup and curveball that came in below 85.

I'd argue even Roger Clemens technically changed speeds with his splitter coming off the fastball.

These days everyone wants to throw 99, and their "off speed" pitch is a fukkin 92 mph slider.

Then you got a$$holes on tv talking about

"i wOnDeR WHy pITcHerS gET HuRt thESe DaYS??"

Probably becomes a 25 HR bat playing in Yankee Stadium.
This is the move I wanted Cashman to make.

Speaking about 2B/3B, I'm not sure what the solution is there.
Regarding 1B, I kinda figured Bellinger plays CF/1B.

I don't love the idea of signing Pete Alonso to a big money deal. I think he projects to be the same player in the Bronx that he was in Queens, but I don't love the commitment. I mean if everything is equal and you have to pick between Alonso and Walker, yeah, take Alonso.

Tremont above mentions Yandy Diaz.
I don't love this idea. Yandy was phenomenal in 2023. But he took a step down in 2024. Didn't hit the ball as hard. Hit more grounders. Getting up there in age now at 33. He's not a good defender, either.

Actually, let me walk that back. Yandy does have a decent hitting profile and can hit for average -- something the Yankees desperately need. He's basically a free agent after 2025 (there's a team option on his contract) so maybe trading for Yandy is viable.........provided that the Rays don't ask for anything crazy. And given how the Rays seemingly steal talent from EVERYONE's farm system....I would be very, very, very careful dealing with that organization.
