I remember when deGrom was at the height of his powers, and watching him pitch was like :banderas: seeing a 101 mph heater followed up by a 95 mph changeup and then a 993-94 mph slider. As I got more familiar with the stress that puts on the elbow and shoulder, and already knowing that he had been shelved earlier for it, I went from :banderas: to :lupe:
I couldn’t be happier the Rangers blew up their entire payroll for him and Scherzer :skip:

deGoat would have saved his arm if he didn't chase the velocity. He needed to be more like Verlander. Ease up on the velocity early and save the hard stuff for when it's really needed

He should refuse to shave

He signed his contract with Mil and the Yankees have to honor it. There's nothing in it stipulating that he has to shave. The Yankee tradition is just Yankee tradition. They really can't enforce the no facial hair policy because he never agreed to it.

It's a rule Steinbrenner did because he wanted the Yankees image to be clean cut and white and corporate and shyt.

You gotta remember George Steinbrenner came up in the 1950s with that Mad Men bullshyt.

It's 2024. Nobody cares about that crap.
You think companies are lining up to work with the Yankees because of their clean cut wholesome image?

They got a fukkin Stanley tools and Casio billboard in center field.

Oh yeah. Really high class. Top shelf image. Thanks boys.

I wonder if anybody has cared enough in the past to challenge it, or maybe, Yankee contacts actually have language in there about it
All it's going to take is one superstar talent to press the Yankees on this shyt.

Now it probably wouldn't matter if a free agent did it. Maybe Gerrit Cole could have said he's not signing unless he could keep his beard. At least when he first signed.

But the real challenge would have come from Judge saying he wanted the hair policy changed last winter or he was going to SF/SD.

They woulda let him walk over that shyt. That's not going anywhere til someone else buys the team.
