Not necessarily. Players are spending multiple years going thru the minors before becoming MLB players.

Teams might fukk with service time for a year. But generally if said player is ready they are called up

The White Sox really have some balls to demand the Yankees give up Jasson Dominguez -- an MLB-ready prospect, and George Lombard Jr -- their 1st round pick from 2023.

Sure, there's a part of me that understands the White Sox have to ASK, and then negotiate after. But if talks broke down because the Yankees wouldn't come off that ridiculous demand for Garrett Crochet, clearly they were hell bent on trying to get away with robbery.

Jackson Holliday is on my team. I watched his dad's entire career. And could've easily crossed him while playing travel and legion ball in the Midwest.
