If that happens so be it, but if it happens, I’d rather the Yankees not pretend they’ll be better without him and spend hundreds of millions of dollars to be wrong.
grab Alonso. Ha-Seong Kim, and more pitching

it sounds like cohen is determined to outbid the Yankees just to say he did
He should what else's he gonna do with that money this window. He can afford Soto & re-sign Pete if he wants

You do it especially when teams outbid them for their own captain like they're the Kansas City Yankees or something. Why not overbid, everybody won't leave money on the table to be there like Judge, most won't

None of that adds up to Soto. :skip:

That's why you pay superstars, which are very limited in MLB.
I never think locking up anyone for that long is a good idea honestly it rarely has ever worked out

That's fair, but his skill set will age well, and his age is a huge multiplier. He hasn't hit his physical prime yet. He should be good for at least a decade

I tend to agree.

But if you're the Yankees, what's the alternative?

The Yankees put themselves in this position by failing to develop a deep pool of talent in the minors and by duct taping together a roster of mediocre players in the hopes that they over-perform.

You either continue to do that, which hasn't worked.
Or you pay for a proven superstar.
Or you blow this whole thing up and go all in on player development.

Now if we are being real, the Yankees have the resources to dominate player development domestically and abroad. So that should be happening anyway. But if you're not going to spend for Soto...what are you doing? And what message does this send to Judge and Cole?
