I think what happened to Lofton was shytty. The BBWAA really screwed him and hopefully one day the era/veterans committee can fix it.
Lofton is one of those guys that didn't necessarily have the PEAK that people look at, so he got ignored unfairly.

Ichiro had all those 200 hit seasons and flirted with .400 now and then. That sticks in people's memories.

The debate around guys like Lofton and Andruw Jones highlights a point about the Hall of Fame -- Babe Ruth and Willie Mays aren't the benchmark for the Hall of Fame. Those guys are the elite within an elite. The base line is lower than that, but there are still really great players that belong.

I'm not one of those guys that is in favor of the "small" HOF. But, I'm also okay with guys hanging around and ultimately never getting in by the writers. Like Kenny Lofton deserved to be on the ballot more than one year. I saw recently the traction that Chipper's comments on if Andruw put up all his numbers in pinstripes he'd be a HoF already. But, I think the Don Mattingly paradox kind of says that's a gut reaction but not necessarily true. Do I think both of those guys are HoF caliber no question. Do I get why they didn't or haven't got in yes.

67 more hits especially if they were all HR's probably put Jones in within his first 3 cycles on the ballot. Cause that would be 2K hits and just over 500 home runs.

Mattingly was hurt by his injuries and no chip. The chip would have likely made up for his statline/injuries compared to most of the other HoF 1B's.

I haven't seen it mentioned in here but on the Baseball Tonight pod they said Sasaki's group was having teams give presentations on what they would do to improve Sasaki's fastball and Sasaki's team was taping every presentation. So when he announced the Dodgers as his team, there was extra resentment because these teams felt used that they gave him their own secrets and he gets to share them with the Dodgers.
Japan be playing dirty in the posting game. In 2012 when the Rangers got Yu Darvish, it was contingent on them also paying his interpreter, who was a friend of his. Rangers was paying this dude 6 figures a year to be Yu's intepreter. Problem is...Yu Darvish speaks english :mjlol: . In 6 years with the Rangers I don't think his interpreter did even 20 interviews with him...but was clocking 6 figures a year from the Rangers. It was just understood at the time that if you wanted to sign Yu, you had to put his man on :mjlol:

This is silly.

I don't love Dunkin. I happen to prefer Starbucks ... although I don't go there often.

I'm sure that for a long time you couldn't find Dunkin on the West Coast so I would expect teams out there would have to go farther to find a Dunkin
