Conversations between the Houston Astros and free-agent third baseman Alex Bregman have resumed within recent days, according to three league sources, reigniting some hope of a reunion between the franchise and one of its cornerstones.

According to The athletic this could really happen. They’re talking about Bregman 3b, paredes would move to 2b and the midget goin to lf

If pressley gets traded within the next 24-36 hours then I think he’ll go back unless they’re trying to get the Red Sox or tigers to up it/match. Astros gotta shed salary cuz they’re slightly over cbt currently

I hate them. :to:
I don't get it.

Why does Detroit want Alex Bregman?

He's over 30 years old.
His shoulder is done.

He's got hardly any power at all, and that's hitting in Houston...hitting in Detroit would be worse for him.

This sounds like Detroit trying to get Bregman because it raises the floor for them. They won't be great but they won't be horrific. So maybe that convinces Skubal to stay.

Dude Skubal is gone. And then the Tigers would be stuck paying Bregman and Baez all this money while being a last place team.

Forget Bregman.

I think it was Chris Rose who said the best way going forward is probably splitting the TV revenue instead of letting each team go get their own deals. And with all these teams losing their own regional cable deals and the MLB now controlling the streaming, he thinks it's getting closer to being possible that the MLB owns as many teams broadcasting rights as possible then try and sell that package to Netflix, Amazon etc.

He used football as an example of a sport who did that so there isn't tremendous differences in spending between markets. I know they have a hard cap but it may at least be a step in the right direction if those bigger market teams can't make that much extra off cable deals, but that still doesn't keep teams from going and adding someone like Flaherty then. Most teams aren't getting the big free agents but they refuse to even add the mid tier ones

Bregman would immediately become their second best hitter. Their starting 3B at the moment is set to be Jace Jung, who looked way over his head last year.

The team needs legit MLB players and a veteran that can still play.

Also, they aren't paying anybody besides Baez on their roster.

Alex Bregman would be your 2nd best hitter for maybe a season.

Then he'd be your 4th best hitter.
And pretty soon he'd be just a guy on the IL
