I'm not diminishing what he did. He's still a .262 career hitter and only hit .300 once. Andruw Jones was an elite defender as well. It sucks he didn't win a ring but he was a staple on the Braves during their run. Also the youngest player to hit a home run in the World Series at the time. Don't know if that still stands.

I'm just defending my guy.

He was never an All Star and never won a Gold Glove. Hell of a player tho.

Felix Hernandez also debuted in the majors at 19. He also threw over 200 innings for 8 straight seasons starting at age 22. Hernandez played for some terrible Seattle teams too.

For comparison, Lincecum only threw over 200 innings 4 times in 10 seasons. Santana only threw over 200 innings 5 times in 12 seasons. Hernandez pitched for 15 seasons.

he was a great pitcher.

Its amazing that he has no chance, but when he was cooking for like 5-6 years there were probably not five pitchers better than him.

Ozzie smith and big papi should’ve killed any “only good defensively “ and “steroids” talk in hall of fame voting.

Jones should be in if Smith is in.

The biggest HOF snub excluding steroids IMO is Keith Hernandez. MVP, multiple WS titles, 86 Mets, BEST defensive first baseman ever
