The draft guide that the Athletic made is the most thorough, yet joyless piece of draft media I ever saw outside of a stat sheet. It’s 180 pages long but I’m assuming that level of in-depth analysis is what professional scouts have to do for a living. It’s also notable because damn near each profile starts by talking about who the kids parents and siblings are. There is so much info you could forget the point is to find someone who can put a ball into a hoop.

I had to stop reading after the first few players. It felt uncomfortable reading that shyt.

"So and so is the son of Brenda and James. He has 2 sisters and 3 half brothers..."

that stuff means nothing to me, but scouts wanna know everything. What's your favorite food, what your best friend's goals are, your go-to Brazzers scene (Pelicans might have taken Ja instead if they had this info)

Swagnificent's a weirdo but you don't think a scout ever told a GM, "not feeling him for this team. Look at his eyes?"

Ausar may have a promise by Detroit or Orlando

Both fits SUCK

With both places, it's clusterfukk city. The only real out Weaver has is that he does love drafting athletes and hoping they all become Westbrook, but he really wants to draft another guy who's better off at PG who is a jumper away?

As for Orlando, Fultz, Suggs, Ausar. Especially the last 2: It's the same shyt! The same shyt!

Now in a vacuum, I'd take Ausar over Whitmore, but Whitmore checks off the athlete boxes Weaver wants too. It's confusing.

How much better than Ivey is he to you? I think he’s better for sure (better passer by a good bit, better jumper from midrange). But I think Ivey clears him as an athlete. For whatever that’s worth
I think Ivey is a little more explosive, but scoot's definitely stronger and just plays with more deliberate pace

honestly im kinda shocked scoot/baron davis comps ain't popped up more.

The Austin Reaves of this draft is gonna be Justin Powell from WSU. I can see him getting a two way immediately (I'd draft him) and he goes to Summer League and torches everyone and gets a 4 year deal.
