It literally does, i was speaking on this, on a cast, i think the Michigan one, you have a good season and it feels like a failure due to one game, or no chip and it’s wild, going to the rose bowl was the shyt now it feels like getting a used T shirt
I think before they get in a tizzy they win, but them years between les winning one and O was a lot of living off the past and whataboutism

But a win in 2010 and 2013 makes us the only program outside of the two juggernauts in conference to get that many since 2010, so

I don't think being a really great program matters anymore in the current format of CFB. Bowl games matter less than ever, the programs that are really getting national play are about as centralized ever, and fanbases got less patience than ever (amongst the top end ones). I use Georgia, primarily because that program is the modern version of Sodom with UAT being Gomorrah, but is there ANYONE that wanted to be them once we collectively realized Richt was gonna keep winning 10 games, losing to South Carolina or Florida, and beating the crap out some 9 win team in a non-BCS bowl every season?

Unless you’re Bama, and I guess UGA, you have to know how rare it it to win a national title. OSU has been the #2 program for the last 23 years…and they have 2 titles only…and that’s not a knock on them, it’s just hard af to win it all.
It’s about 99.9% certain that MSU is never winning a title in the next 40 years, and likely never in my lifetime… so I’m locking in the two titles in 5 years.
But, if you’re A program that has the recent history of winning a title or at least being close, them you might not take that lock. Bama has no reason to take that lock bc they’ll be in the playoffs next year. While MSU needs an insane amount of things to go right to even get to the playoffs, let alone win.
