There are damn near 1500 players in the portal at the moment. That is way too many players, there aren't going to be enough landing spots for them. And the ones that do find a landing spot are essentially taking up a scholarship that could go to a high school recruit especially since some of them will have to settle for g5 programs or even DII. I'm all for empowering the players but the portal is out of control.

This is what happened in 2019 when there was only 300 kids in the portal from P5 teams.


In 2019, there were over 300 players who entered their names into the transfer portal from D1 football programs.

From just the power five schools there are still, to this day, 63 players who are not committed to a current football team. Nine of those are from the Big 12, 14 from the Big 10, 22 from the PAC-12, 13 from the SEC and five from the ACC.

They just want to play and the portal helps that even if its at a smaller school.

the thing about it, for ever kid that doesn’t find a spot, they can go D2-D3 or even hbcu and if they not scooped up, odds say they were probably going to end up processed in a year or two, but this is for the kids that actually are decent but got sold some bs and should have a do over some where else, or a new coach comes in and starts down playing some kids
