If you say that LaMelo has a high ceiling, then you can say it about literally anyone else who's eligible for a draft though. Just ignore everything negative and say that it actually represents limitless growth potential.

He shot 25% from 3 - and he shoots at a high volume because he's literally afraid of actually playing out a whole possession against a defense that's set up to meet him :dead: middle schoolers do that shyt. Not elite playmaking point guards. Dude is throwing passes that a LOT of people can make in scrimmages and low end leagues.

He 6'7 and frail with average as fukk explosion. Doesn't even know what to do offensively between the paint and 3 point line aside from throw up sad floaters.

He either can't play defense except once every 10 minutes of floor time or flat out refuses to do so. Never heard of off-ball play either.

If it wasn't for Lonzo and Lavar, nobody would be paying attention to some kid who went from AAU to Lithuania to the JBA to Australia.

That's a big ongoing issue with him and it's stuck since he's been in AAU. He's a fearless passer, but those passes won't be there once defenses dare him to shoot. If he can't figure that out in the NBL, how is he going to figure it out against NBA defenses? A lot hinges on him fixing his shot and reigning in his shot selection.

It even speaks volumes about this draft when a project like him is discussed as a "no brainer" at #1.

I’m just not seeing it with Killian Hayes. He’s heavily mocked to my Pistons. Other than his age he doesn’t seem that impressive. Even his highlight reels are meh. Not great athlete, shooter, passer and played in weak foreign league. I’d put Kira, Hampton or Anthony in same category or above. None sure fire future starters but Atleast Hampton has elite athleticism, Kira has elite speed, and Anthony has an Alpha mentality.

Hope rumors about Patrick Williams having promise from Pistons is true. Take players with highest ceilings. fukk needs when your roster is this trash

There were ppl who didn't think Luka would be a superstar either bc he wasn't athletic and was an inconsistent jump shooter

When you're at the top of the draft, you have to draft based on ceiling

He was playing high level basketball as a freshman in HS, he has elite vision, elite vision, he's 6'8, has range...I wouldn't want to be the guy to pass on him

He's basically the most offensively skilled player in the draft, and if selected to the right team under the right structure, that team could potentially unlock his defensive potential and add strength to his game

Can you imagine Melo as a 6'8 215 PG, matchup nightmare

Luka was MVP on the 2nd best league in the world as a damn teenager. Playing against grown ass men.

Compared to Melo getting to cherry pick offense against high school kids....most of them will make D2 if they're lucky. He wasnt that impressive in Australia and that league is just ok

I'm not Lamelo has no chance to be good but he is wildly overrated

Hollinger on no dunks podcast, real tidbits:
  • Patrick Williams getting a lot of noise to go #7 to Pistons. Fits what Troy Weaver likes.
  • It'll be either Deni or Obi Toppin to Cleveland
  • A pick at #10 may have the same value as a pick at #26.
  • Deni worked out for the Warriors in Atlanta.

From Johnny Athletic’s pod:

- Sonics interviewed Edwards and that it went well.

- they’re ready to select at #1. Now it’s just looking around in case a deal materializes.

John Hollinger put out a mock. Let me know if y’all want me to list it.

Chad Ford thinks even in a weak class, players drop, so someone like Okoro at #10 would be ideal for Phoenix.

there’s a real connection between the Pistons and Patrick Williams

I keep seeing this but isn't Sekou, who they drafted last year, a similar prospect? I thought they would need G help more than another combo forward
Ah yea completely forgot about him lol. He was pretty bad last season guess they aren't too high on him if they are really locked in on Williams. Could just be a smoke screen though with them really targeting a guard.

I don’t think sekou was entirely bad tho he was the youngest player in the draft and very raw plus French so it’s a learning curve

Yea he has a lot of potential because of his size and athletic ability but he's extremely raw. He's gonna have to get a lot better on both ends

He took way too many 3's last season imo. He needs to work on everything offensively not just 3 point shooting. And he needs to start using his size on the boards and defense I didn't like his effort

Hayes is a great passer I don’t know what film you’ve seen to suggest the opposite and he actually tries on defense quick hands and looked good in the FIBA tournaments
