Come on Orlando...pick!No idea. @Blankthawtz @Richboi804 @Trust Me
Just autodraft us some mufukka with a 7 ft wingspan that can't shoot. That's what our wack ass front office is going to do anyway
Come on Orlando...pick!
Deni can't shoot. Which is indicative of a problem with his touch because his form is pretty damn solid... Still, getting a serviceable player out of this weak draft isn't even that bad.
As a prospect, he isn't even all that much different than another guy on his own team in Omri Casspi.
@tremonthustler1Fine. Just give us Tyrese Maxey
@tremonthustler1
The Blazers pick Jalen Smith from Maryland.
A power forward that can block and shoot 3's. Insurance for Zach Collins and Hassan Whiteside.
What? I'm not asking him to be an all-star or anything. Just play a role.
Yes, he can shoot. I literally just dispelled this false talking point in the thread.Deni can't shoot. Which is indicative of a problem with his touch because his form is pretty damn solid... Still, getting a serviceable player out of this weak draft isn't even that bad.
As a prospect, he isn't even all that much different than another guy on his own team in Omri Casspi.
He can shoot. Take it from someone who actually watched his games and is able to put his overall shooting percentages in their proper context.see that is something I didn’t know. I just assumed based on his position and play style from the sizzle reels I’ve seen that he was a shooter. That’s why I can’t say much about this draft I clearly haven’t looked at these players enough.
And I was saying I’d love him or Obi on the Cavs. When he’s probably got a lot in common with Cedi.
His season percentages are a gross misrepresentation of his shooting ability, especially if you're not able to contextualize it with what's happening on the floor.
He shot 35% from behind the arc in the IBSL, and was hitting in the mid-40% for a brief stretch when he grew into his role and started getting more consistent minutes and got his hands on the rock more. In the EuroLeague (where he shot 27% on a much smaller sample size), he had a completely different role and had fluctuating minutes, where he wasn't getting regular touches to develop any rhythm.
When the IBSL resumed, he shot 41% from behind the arc (5.6 attempts per game) and 72% from the FT (4.1 attempts per game) in the rest of the regular-season games.
Avdija on his 3-point shooting:
“I think a lot of guys who are not in the team or not in basketball don’t understand some things about the shot. The shot is not always about your technique. I think my technique is good. I just think that people don’t see the surroundings, so, people forget that I was young. I was going through a team with a lot of experience, with a lot of pressure, with a lot of fans every night. I played several kinds of minutes. Sometimes less, sometimes more, sometimes there’s more pressure. It was kind of ups and downs in the shot. I think towards the end I felt very comfortable in the team, and that’s the main reason why I think I shot better. I think my confidence raised, and I felt better. And the guys made me feel better. I can shoot. I’m a great shooter. … If I couldn’t shoot, I wouldn’t shoot 3′s. But as long as I shoot, I’m confident, and I’m trying to make every shot I can.”
In the majority of games I watched, he was typically put in situations where the shot-clock was running out and/or took it upon himself to take a shot when nobody else wanted to, which obviously don't reflect too kindly on his percentages. It'd seem to be a running theme all throughout the season. When he got open looks, he was sinking them; when he had time to hit a combo or got the ball in good spots, he was sinking them.
His perceived shooting woes are more based around what is circumstantial than anything glaring about his mechanics - which do project as being a plus-shooter in the NBA.
@Nick Barnes @tonyclifton @puppetmaster @Jackrabbit y’all pick now

@No Homo be ready to pick
Sure ...he can become a "good" player ... but can he become an "elite" player or the central point of a good offense with his projected skillset is my questionIf the warriors get him he’ll have a role of simply playing defense, rebounding, setting screens and dunking . That shouldn’t be too much for him his first couple of years. I do believe he’ll eventually develop a outside shot, his form is decent. The guy is so young and talented he’s worth taking the risk on
That is what we won’t know for at least 3 yearsSure ...he can become a "good" player ... but can he become an "elite" player or the central point of a good offense with his projected skillset is my question
And thats the rub for a general manager as you cant draft from hindsight... so you have to decide if the skills you see on tape or in person can actually project out to the role you're anticipating said player to fill... If a team just needs a rebounder/paint defender big body ..sure Im pretty confident he can do that just based on athletic measurable's but even at the high end of that spectrum that kind of player is more in the vein of a Hassan Whiteside/Andre Drummond type of player and not a franchise cornerstone ...which begs the question on just how high do you draft that kind of player in comparison to dudes who have more potential #1 option/center piece upsideThat is what we won’t know for at least 3 years
