Exactly!

That or a more athletic Bobby Portis

Unless he fixes his defense, dude is just a scoring big off the bench which is fine but not worth a top 10 pick.
Depending on the draft talent pool that year, sometimes that's exactly what your gonna get from a top 10 pick. All drafts are not created equal.

I don't know how anyone looks at Obi Toppin and doesn't have Derrick Williams flashbacks
He looks nothing like him.
For the Hawks: My list is this:
1. Obi Toppin - Fits how we play, gives us a legit backup for JC with the potential to be a lot more.
2. Deni A. - Shows potential to be an excellent playmaking forward as a defensive 4.
3. Okoro - Big wing with potential to be very good
4. Patrick Williams - Big wing with potential be a 3&D big wing
5. Hali - Top tier backup PG with potential to be a good starter
6. Hayes - Top tier backup PG with potential to be a good starter

2nd round:
1. Payton Pritchard- Top tier 3rd string PG with potential to be a good backup PG
2. Malachi Flynn- Top tier 3rd string PG with potential to be a good backup PG
3. Grant Riller- Top tier 3rd string PG with potential to be a good backup PG
4. Markus Howard- Shooter
5. Cassius Winston - Baller
6. Nico Mannion - Passer and Shooter who's raw.

Trades or FA:
1. Looking for free players who provide shooting and depth on reasonable deals.
2. Shooters - Looking for markman off the bench
3. Defenders - Looking for defenders off the bench
Why Obi if you have John Collins though?

I cant respect any mocks that don’t have Detroit taking a pg with pick 7
Why are the pistons forced to take a PG ?

they had Tony Snell starting at SF the whole year ,not like that spot is locked down .

If the PG doesn’t have a high upside don’t just take one just because there is a need

PG is the easiest position to find rn while good wing players are the hardest and the most impactful

Unless I’m sure the PG has a good chance to be all star level I’m not breaking my neck just to pick one :yeshrug:

@tremonthustler1 you agree with this article? He made some compelling points

I think he missed a category. nikkas with broken Js. Like fundamentally fukked up jumpers ie Lonzo, MKG, josh jackson and to a lesser extent fultz (I dont blame philly for this one. That shot came out of nowhere). Those shooting forms that make you hit the . These dudes never fix their shots. If your shot looks painful, you better be some unstoppable freight train to the rim with + defense and vision. Otherwise :camby:

They aren't secure at any position ATM. Our roster is complete dogshyt. Even our best younger prospect on the roster, Woodd, is a free agent so there's no guarantee he'll be back. At this point it should be best available because we need assets and talent to develop. Handcuffing yourself to a certain position when your so devoid of talent is a recipe for failure. We ain't a player away.

I think ATL might end up trading Collins instead of investing the $100+ million it’d take to sign him. The writing was on the all when they brought in Capela.

Most importantly we've seen what the team looks like with Collins. What does Obi bring to the table that he doesn't?

I don't think they should go in that direction again, especially with a player like Trae that is going to thrive on a pace and space squad.

A team as directionless as Detroit needs to start their rebuild with a PG. The lottery is pg heavy and Detroit hasn't had a consistent pg since 2008.. If pg is the easiest position to find then why are we one of the only teams in the NBA that hasn't had a successful guard in the era of guards? We dont have the 20th pick, there's a pg with upside you can draft at #7...we can pass on the Devin Vassells of the world. Take the pg you think fits the vision of the team and go from there. I'm not down to give FVV 100mill which is realistic knowing how the Pistons operate.

They feel like Capela is better fit for the team than Collins at a fraction of the cost. I wouldn’t chumping at the bit of waiting to pay him $100+ million dollars as he’s a defensive liability. I’m not trying to him Bam level money when both him and Trey haven’t made the team remarkably better and they are still in the same situation as they were previously.

At some point, they need to get Trey a backcourt running mate and they likely feel like Collins is the trade chip to do so.
