What are you talking about? Trade Alonso? McNeil? For who and why?! They did compete last year. They had a winning record in a division with two playoff teams and the WS champ. They are close to having a winner/competitor. It would be dumb to blow it up now.
They are operating like they just won a chip. I'm not even saying to blow it up right now but they haven't addressed the bullpen and they're talking about trading a starter. I'm not optimistic especially considering the moves Philly and Atlanta made.

Where are to getting this info they are trading an SP?
No they aren't. They are addressing their weaknesses and it is still just mid-Decber there is a lot of time to make more moves. You are just upset they aren't doing what you would do. But you are on the outside looking in you don't know what is available to them.

Those are some of the rumors out there. They are talking like they have no more money to spend and are going to trade either a starter and/or position players to address the pen.

The surprising part is the union is onboard with this. I wonder what yo has been doing that the union is blessing this. I can't wait to hear more details.

Are they cutting his pay or just letting then defer money

There's nothing for the union to say/do if Cespedes OK'd the modification

They're already letting other relief pitchers go by though. What do you think the rest of the offseason for the Mets looks like? How will we improve the bullpen?
Out of the 80 relievers available via Free agency 12 have signed. Check the ESPN tracker.
And we have players we can trade like D. Smith that could also net us a decent reliever. Relax it is very early.
