I like the hire. I mean I would have preferred Girardi but as far as the inexperienced candidates go he was my second choice. The bench coach from Milwaukee is very accomplished at the college level he was my first inexperienced choice.
Beltran was a great Met and a guy who will automatically garner respect from the players due to his personal Hall of Fame play. And I'm glad whatever riff existed between him and the team have been rectified. The fans gave him hell for one friggin' AB which was not fair. Glad he didn't hold that against the organization as well. I'm happy about this.

Mets really need to win a title. 2006 was such a blown opportunity I won't even get into it. In my lifetime I've had to see the following:

Braves - 1995
Marlins - 1997, 2003
Phillies - 2008
Nationals - 2019
Mets - I don't wanna hear about no 86' :birdman:

2015 and 2000 were fukking disasters. Smh.
2006 still fukks me up more than 1999, 2000, 2007-8 or 2015. Hell, throw in 1988 for good measure.

The way we lost in 2006 was bad, but I felt we had little to not shot of beating the Tigers without Pedro and El Duque.

Duaner Sanchez injury, trading Xavier Nady, Duque injury....everything just went wrong.

I still feel we could'a beat the Tigers if we got past the Cards.
06' was Wright and Reyes moment to cement their Met legacies and the team flopped as a whole :francis:

Looking back, I hated that team after the season ended because they could turn it on and beat you 10-2 every night, ending the game by the 4th inning. And then there were nights were we couldn't beat the Pirates or score off lefty starters :francis:

Best team in MLB in 06' but just never got it done.

It might be the Puerto Rican and sour in me, but I'm happy with Beltran as manager. He was one of the better players in franchise history and with Thor and DeGoat he could have a very good team. I wish him all the luck in the world.

I'm still salty that the 06 team didn't get past the cards. They were the best team by far and should have won. Beisbol is a funny game.

Los Mets forever

I bet we get a WHOLE coaching staff...

.. for under a million bucks.

But I'm sure thats just a coincidence. The Wilpon's would never make any decisions based on saving money or anything.

:francis:

u got Girardi, Maddon and lord knows who else floating around out there and they throw it at Beltran and probably for crumbs. This team isn’t serious and never learns. Meanwhile you still gotta deal with the Nats and whatever the Phillies Reloaded looks like.

The same Girardi the Yankees kicked to the curb for the cheaper Aaron Boone?

yup. That guy. Can the Mets really fukk around and hope Beltran makes something happen? With Boone, you got a puppet manager who somehow won 200 games already so the Yanks are rolling with it. Who knows if the Beltran situation works out but I’m just not wowed by this one and not surprised by the Wilpons either.
