Panel on the SNY post game already talking about trading pieces from the young core. The Wilpons have to realize they have lightning in a bottle and that they need to spend this off-season to take it to the next level. Trading away those key components hurts the team.

I'm proud of the way the team bounced back and fought hard. It majorly disappointing because as exciting as the season was, we are missing the playoffs because our pen was one of the worst in the league. That's a tough pill to swallow.

That 6 game stretch at home where the Braves and Cubs swept us basically ended our season.

There were so many positives to look forward to for next year though. Not to sound like I accept missing the playoffs but I am proud and excited for the team. They were fun to watch all the way up to the last game of the season.

I'm in the minority, but I want Callaway back in New York next season. The Mets performance in the second half and overall, late in games, were signs of a team that didn't quit and one that genuinely likes each other. They could have quit like the Pirates did on Clint Hurdle and Terry Collins in 2017.

Lastly, it's been a long year. Thank you to all of you who posted in the thread day in and day out. Some of us stopped watching (myself included) and others stuck through it. Great second half of baseball and finished third in the NL East going 10 over 500. Hoping that the Wilpons realize they have something special and capitalize on it by spending some money. Looking forward to the off-season moves and Spring Training. Have to do a meetup in 2020.

Address the bullpen and find a quality starting pitcher for when Wheeler leaves after declining the QO.

My minds racing at the possibilities of next year. We've got some pieces that we can dangle, in order to bring in pieces that we need. Our payroll for next year.. as of today is around 123 million. Thats with Jakes raise and with us not picking up Lagares' 9.5 million dollar option.

Not to mention, this fanbase is DYING for a winning team. That early August series against the Nats, showed how fans would react if they had a legit squad to believe in.
You go in to this offseason spending, and this fanbase will show in droves next year. Sadly, like @Tommy Fits said, I think they'll subtract and give that same "well if this guy and that guy plays great" the Mets will be contenders mantra.

I can’t front that last at bat brought a smile to my face. That was our season summed up in a nut shell. Bullpen was terrible could of won early on but didn’t, but if you count us out we will surprise you and will fight to the last out.

27 blown saves Season was bittersweet. Finally a winning season but should of definitely be playing in October. I

edit: It's been said 100 times but I'll say it again, a solid bullpen and this team could have been sitting on 100 wins.

85 wins with a trash pen, think about that for a sec, 85 wins

Not tryna be a dikk, but the same could be said about the Nationals.
