Maybe not entirely, but where a player is rated def does or/and can influence who all comes recruiting
Leaves a lot of room for error. Hit rate means a lot and it means more for your non 5 star recruits than anything because you get time to develop them if your high 4/5 stars max out. Ask UT about bringing in good classes. Michigan too. Stars don't mean jack to me if they aren't developed. Our 2015 class was ranked 3rd nationally and didnt amount to shyt. I'm glad they're gone. Now our 2009 & 2010 classes, I see any of them dudes out and I'll buy them a beer. The hit rate on the 5 stars was decent but it was the mid to low 4 star and 3 stars who made those 13 & 14 teams what they were. Hell, Xavier Rhodes was a 3 star WR on that 09 class. We also had a bunch of good recruiters who could develop players. Gran, Stoops, DJ Eliot, and Stoops with Craig and Coley being the lead recruiters.

Oh it does leave a lot of room for error as it's not a flawless system. I'm just saying that i'd rather have a roster filled with more blue chip players and develop those as you're probably going to win BIG as oppose to having say.....Kansas roster knowing that no matter how great of a coach and developer you are, there's just a ceiling.

Mullen is an example of no matter how great of a developer of talent you are, if you aren't able to bring in a high amount of 4 and 5 star talent, you're capped as a HC which is why his ceiling of winning is higher at UF than it was at MSU.

The bulk of their major impact players looks to be in 2016-2018 classes when they started to take more 5*s and had some smaller classes. Their deepest position (DL) were the big 4-5* croots that everybody wanted. Then topped it off with the number one (should have been number two :brutusblocko: ) player in the country leading them at QB. Much of their high impact players were the 4-5* players everybody wanted.
Well yea no one is saying don’t get the elite players they’re the ones who are the difference makers, but people act like a kid in inferior because he’s a 3* that’s not true. Dabo played damn near his who roster this year and they’re not all 4-5*. At the end of the day you get ur stars and develop them but you also get your blue chippers who you think will fit ur program the best. If a kid so happens to be a 3* so be it.

That earlier graphic displays how UTk might fr be about something. I seem to remember them not being the best recruiting force in Tennessee under Butch

Where a player signs also can influence rating. We got a RB who was a 3* and was committed to App State, as soon as he decommitmed from them and signed with us then they bumped him to a 4*
That’s what I’m saying there’s too much politics behind these rankings to take it too serious. It’s a good measuring tool but it’s doesn’t completely tell the story on good a kid is. At the end of the day it’s just an educated guess. You can’t put an accurate numerical number on how good a 17-18 year old kid is when they’re not even playing in an even playing field

Butch brought in top 5 recruiting classes
Even if he did, I meant defending the state. Thats usually how you can tell someone's gonna be a power in that regard long-term, once they start holding their own area down pat. Prime UT would also have dominion over the other states to the North and West of em but IDK if that's feasible for em at this point

What big talent came out of Tennessee when he was there?

1. Watch ya tone
2. Only because the old $$ at KU could give less than a fukk about football. If Les and Long can swing some of that money to the football program, win some games, things "could" change. Think about it. David Booth bought the Naismith basketball rules for $4.5 mil then donated $40mil for a bldg just to house them shyts. They finally got him on board by naming the football stadium after him. Changes are a comin :ld:
