They lost a good bit of defensive talent didnt they? and they recruiting class last year was downright bad by SEC standards. McElwain did some good things with that offense but they need some Florida level talent quickly
No one is saying, but most suspect its weed and him not fully buying into the process.

He's a cornball but has a bizzare ability to find talent.
Once again I'll remind yall he found Antonio Brown and JJ Watt who were 2 star recruits and recruited them to Central Michigan. He also found Eric Fisher (Chiefs OT) who became a #1 overall draft pick.
We've had good recruiting classes the last 3 years but definitely not the caliber of teams like FSU and Alabama.
We're the most talented team in the country because of this unique gift Butch has. He just knows how to find talent.

So basically y'all having an "Orange out" for the fans while playing a team that has the same shade of Orange that y'all wear. So when us Clemson fans roll up to the stadium wearing our Orange it'll feel like a home game.

Lost a lot of talent to the NFL. 15 draft picks in the last 2 years.
Mediocre recruiting the last 2 years. (#20 and #14 in the rankings) that haven't replenished the talent pool.
Plus they were very lucky last year. Lots of close/lucky wins. For example, they were down 13 points with 10 minutes to go against Tennessee before a fluke win. Needed a last minute FG to beat Vanderbilt and a 4th down stop in OT to beat Florida Atlantic. Struggled with Kentucky for 4 qtrs before a last second stop.
All in all they were really lucky last year with a lot more talent than what they have this year. They could struggle and go 7-5.

Dont forget the 2015 recruiting class was also #20. 2016 was #14. That's the worst 2 year stretch for Florida in recruiting since rivals started putting out rankings.
And like I said earlier they lost 15 players to the draft over the last 2 years. In that same timespan Tennessee has had 0 players drafted. And yet those 2 teams have been seperated by a total of 2 points the last 2 years.
What does tell you?
It tells me Tennessee had a lot of youngsters playing a bunch of future NFL players to essentially a draw the last 2 years. Those guys are older now and Florida doesn't have the talent to replace what they lost.
Tennessee is gonna rock them September 24th.
It'll be UGLY.
