This I disagree with. Been saying the P5 champs get auto bid then #6 is highest rank non conference winner.
3 vs 6
4 vs 5
1 & 2 get byes. Play those first two at home stadiums
I agree. 6 teams is the perfect solution. 8 is too many. It would basically lead to a replaying of the conference championship games. And 4 is too small. You leave out teams like 2015 Ohio State who could've won the whole thing.
6 playoffs teams with the 5 conference champs getting automatic bids and the 6th spot going to the best non-champ is the way to go.
And the committee should say that if you want to be the best non-champ, you need to have the most difficult out of conference schedule. Doing that will make the regular season more exciting because teams will schedule alot tougher out of conference. Right now a tough out of conference can hurt you because an out of conference loss is just as damaging to your playoff hopes as an intra conference loss. With automatic bids, it doesn't matter how bad you do out of conference, if you win your conference games you'll get in.
I think 6 teams with the 5 conference champs getting automatic bids will incentivize teams to schedule 3-4 tough out of conference games. They'll do that cause it won't hurt them with their chances to getting into the playoffs. It can only help them if they win them all. I think a 6 team playoff would make college football 100x better because it would revolutionize the regular season.
