100% Agree..
Breh, it really sucks that we got blown out. But watching Hebert really gave me hope. Like you say, it looks like the hype was real. Just watching Justin move calmly in the pocket was great to watch. The Huskies D is legit, and the kid came out and played very well for a true freshman.
We just need to get the D straighten out going into next year. Looking like Dye is going to be a star, but I don't know. The D is our problem.
But I am really pumped about Justin, very impressed with how he played last night. Just going to enjoy his development this year. And hope to see flashes from the D.
But Man, we have are QB. And that is a good thing.
I agree that Dye has loads of potential, but he is suffering from what the rest of defense is doing in that he chooses the wrong gap to fill and finds himself out of the play. But for a team whose LB's have sucked since Kiko left, we finally have a kid that can play.
Herbert has everything: size, running ability, and maybe the strongest arm I have ever seen in an Oregon QB. Once he figures out the mental aspect and the game slows down he looks like he is going to be legit. I just hope he doesn't have to carry the team and gets some help eventually from the defense...I personally don't expect any until next year.
I still can't believe Oregon hired this dude as Offensive Coordinator
That haircut
This dude is apparently one of the best QB coaches in the nation. He has a great resume. He has suffered from burnout before, hopefully having Herbert keeps him juiced to keep coaching.
Helf can't recruit. And do you give Helf and brady Hoke a chance to recruit those guys? IDK. Such a mess breh, such a mess. I am just happy with Justin Hebert, and that is what I am going to focus on this year. B/c just thinking about the D hurts my head.

The recruiting thing with Helf is weird. There actually is some things that I feel he does better than Chip: he recruits less risky personalities and the risk for players getting in trouble seems far less. The numbers may prove this wrong, but it feels like Chip recruited more big name recruits, but a lot left the team before ever playing. Seems like Helfrich keeps more guys who stay and end up playing.
Now the player character is an interesting one, because usually there are talented players who you have to take chances on because in order to get that talent, sometimes you have to take that risk. Belotti and Chip would take that risk, Helfrich hasn't been willing to. Fine line, people complained about player character with Belotti and Chip, but didn't complain about all the winning. Now with Helfrich they are starting to complain about losing. What are the fans willing to accept? I think they are willing to accept winning at all costs more.
And I am wondering if a lot of the problems are coaching and less recruiting. I like Pellum as a LB coach and he deserves a chance to rebuild that group. I felt the LB play went down under Chinander. Pellum has always had an over achieving bunch, I am willing to give him time. John Neal had the D-Boys and earned his rep, but this latest batch
. Ugo Amado feels like a good example of the problems. A 4 star recruit who nearly went to LSU, but yet he can't cover anyone while at Oregon...seems like a microcosm of our whole secondary. For any offensive coordinators lurking out there for tips, just throw the ball wherever Reggie Daniels is. Guaranteed completion or penalty.
The D line went down when Azzinaro left and Aiken was hired. Time for Aiken to go?
Love Lubick as our WR coach. WR play immediately improved when he took over. As an offensive coordinator...not sure. He definitely has had some questionable decisions, but he also hadn't been helped by a team that can play consistently.
And Helf...I like him as he seems like a good dude, but I have serious doubts he can be at the national level. I think they should hold on to him, because I don't think Oregon is as desirable as some think, and when the next Chris Peterson type situation comes up, you go and get that hot coach asap!
