What if a lot of this shyt with Porzingis was a smoke screen led by the 76ers to try to fleece the Magic out of more assets. I don't see the Knicks picking him unless they get an assett either I think breh may be being used as leverage.

and he is still realistically just going to be picked by the Magic at 5.

"I think what has happened to him is, because the game is so easy for him and he’s had such great success, his deficiencies haven’t manifested yet. I think that they will to a degree."

"My issues with him are defensively. He guards with his instincts, that’s it. He’s so creative with his offense, so he knows the game, he’s smart. He knows how to defend — he’ll get into the passing lanes, he knows how to dig and recover, he knows rotations. But he can’t fukking guard anything. He’s disinterested. I saw [Ohio State] play Marquette earlier in the year. They were playing zone defense. Thad Matta doesn’t play zone. They were doing it to help Russell.

He gets by with his instincts, and I don’t know if you can do that in our league. I think that’ll be an issue for him. "

Pretty spot on :ehh:

James Harden weighed in at 222 lbs at the NBA combine, while Russell weighs 193 lbs. Please stop that dumb comparison :camby:

If the Sixers aren't planning to contend for 2 or 3 years (at least), Porzingis is actually the perfect pick for them.

Russell will make them better from day one though.. fukk around and have you picking 12th in the draft or something instead of top 5

Hold on...So your purposefully saying not to pick the better player who has high potential and is young now because he may help you win a few games but to draft the higher risk/reward prospect because he won't be Productive and you'll be able to have another high pick in a draft where you will damn near have at least 2 other lotto picks?

I mean even if Russell is as good as advertised you take that and he's young enough to build with the rest of the franchise and is in a position that has a glaring deficiency (PG/SG) for the 76ers.

I'm saying I can see why they are considering Porzingis if they are not planning to be contenders anytime soon, because they have the time to develop him and in turn that will make it easier for them to compile more talent. His ceiling is higher than Russell.. will he ever get there? Maybe not, some would say probably not.. a team like the Lakers or Knicks are trying to contend like ASAP.. the Sixers obviously aren't so they can be more patient with him.

I mean I dig what the 76ers are doing but they still have a glaring hole in the backcourt and for a lead scorer....They have Frontcourt assets in Noel/Embiid/Saric/Thomas Robinson/Covington. They only have Wroten in the backcourt....
