the black population in TN is only about 15%. we can't field competitive teams in the SEC based purely on in-state talent. its one of the reasons Georgia, LSU, and Florida (before the recent downturn) have been so consistent. large in-state talent pool keeps em viable each and every season. when tennessee was dominant it was because we were getting the best players in north carolina and tennessee as well as getting our share of the elite talent in georgia.
arkansas suffers from the same problem as tennssee (not enough in-state talent to be elite). the problem with the mississippi schools is that their state is not high in population. plus having two schools splitting a limited talent pool is never good. plus alabama and auburn have been raiding the elite talent outta mississippi in the same way tennessee raids north carolina. only difference is there is no sec school in north carolina to attract the elite players. in mississippi there were two. however, hugh freeze is changing that right now with his 3 consecutive top 20 recruiting classes.
most of the talent in the south comes from 3 states. florida, georgia, and texas. unless you are located in one of those states, you have to go out of state and battle it out with other schools to get the talent neccesary to compete.
Seeing these Nick Marshall highlights brings a tear to my eyes man
Thanks for putting the program back on the map
shoulda had a ring
they've been crying about those camps left and right. If they're top tier schools they shouldn't be worried about it.Ain't that about a bytch? MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECHIGAN can. Ohio State can, but you up here talking out of your fukking ass for the past couple of days screaming SEC COUNTRY! The only reason you see The Ohio State University go out of state is to get the players that are top tier. Also, satellite camps are a given in the proof system as far as advantages go. That's why you see Nick getting pissed. Maybe the SEC should catch up to the B10
Yep, yep. I think he might be the most underrated QB we've ever had. Would've been nice to get him from the jump back in 2011 when Malzahn was here but he probably would've been in 2012Nick is my dude. I'll never be able to understand how he could come in to a new school with a new coach and a new system and improve each week and take the team all the way to the championship.
Plus he gave Jeremy the opportunity to learn without having to get thrown out there before he's ready

maybe if we played in the big 10, we could. but we play in the GOAT conference. we got teams filled with talented players from georgia, florida, and louisiana. we gotta match em. and i'm realistic enough to know that in the world of the SEC, tennessee as a state lags behind the other juggernauts. put us in the big 10 and we body every single one of your pathetic teams. including those buckeyes (minus the SEC talent Urban brought in).
there is a reason you got teams like iowa, indiana, illinois, and northwestern up and down ya conference. midwest has little to no talent to fill up an entire conference worth of teams. georgia, florida, louisiana, and texas got more than enough players to have every SEC team eatin good.
